  • [Question] Corn Dog question

I know this is a silly question.... but..... I've heard so much about the corn dogs here. Have any of you tried them? Which is better... the ones from Corn Dog Castle (DCA) or the ones off the cart at Disneyland? Which do you like better and why? Are they the same size and price? Where is the cart located in the park? Thanks for your opinions!

    Re: Corn Dog question

The corn dogs are delicious and worth every single heart attack inducing, waist expanding calorie.

I don't think there's any difference in taste between the locations. Only difference is DCA has the additional option of the hot link corn dog and a cheese stick corn dog. I actually just found out that the Stage Door Cafe (right behind Golden Horseshoe) is also carrying the corn dogs now!! With the abundance of seating, the riverfront view, and FRENCH FRIES, it is my new go to for corn dogs.

The cart is at the end of main street next to the photo shop.

To me they seem too greasy. I always get a stomach ache after so it isn't worth it to me.

        Re: Corn Dog question

After several years of going to the park and walking by those wonderful smelling corn dogs, we finally got some on our last trip. I hate to say it but it was rather disappointing. It was extremely greasy and didn't have much flavor - the ones I get at the grocery stores deli are better.
I don't know, maybe they'd been sitting too long or something ~ they looked good though.

LOVE the corn dogs at Disneyland. There isn't a place that does them better! The corn dogs will be the same style at DCA and Disneyland, it's just the surroundings you want to eat in that makes the difference.

I highly recommend trying out this fantastic treat at least once while you are visiting The Parks!

I always go to the red wagon in DL, but now that I know they offer polish sausage ones in DCA I will be going there in October

I'll cast my vote as a thumbs up for the Disney corn dog. I don't think it's even fair to compare them to a grocery store corn dog. You have to nuke those after all.

Thank you all for your input. They sound awesome!

I was looking at menus and noticed that they are served with chips or apples. But you mention french fries. I don't see them offered with fries. Do you pay extra for substitute fries for chips/apples? Or do you just get an order of fries on the side? Dang.... I'm hungry!

Also... are they bigger than your typical corn dog?

There is nothing better than walking into the park on your first visit, walking up to the cart, and getting a corn dog with apple slices!!

The corn dogs at DLR are the best corn dogs. They are hand-dipped and have a delicious (although greasy) crunch to them. Dip them in a bit of mustard (MUTHTARD?!) and ketchup and finish it off with an orange soda and you're set! They are one of the biggest highlights of my trip. In fact, many of my highlights have to do with food...

Actually, they can be baked in the oven and taste much better that way. The directions are on the box.

I love DLR corndogs. Even more than Wienerschnitzel. The hand-dipped aspect is the best, a nice crispy outer, fluffy cornbread inner, and lovely steaming hot dog inside. I think the best place to get them is Stage Door since there's rarely the wait of the cart on Main St. I know Stage Door does sell fries--I'm not sure if you can substitute the fries for the chips (possibly at an extra charge?) with the corndog, but it's worth asking about.

It's a fried food, so you have to expect that. I cannot palate a Monte Cristo, but I love the corndogs.

Oh I know they can be baked. I'd be curious to know what percentage of people actually do that though

Probably not many . It's not the same as right out of the fryer. I mean seriously, you're talking about a battered hot dog. Might as well go all the way!

Or you can set it under my fat cousin Nina. You can cook a pot roast from all that pressure and heat but you might not be able to find it afterwards

The only place to get them with fries is at the Stage Door Cafe. The Cart and DCA both only offer the chips/apples.

IIRC, the fries did not add any additional cost to the meal, but I can't remember for certain.

They are DEFINITELY bigger than your average bear. Lots of times I'll just have my two kids split one for a quick lunch. They are big enough to be split and still be filling.

Sorry, I must respectfully but emphatically disagree. There is nothing like a fresh and hot corndog, and Disney's are the best I've had anywhere. Well, except the ones that where on the grab and go table at Destination D just recently. YUK!!!

I've had the corndog at every location they're served in Disneyland and DCA, honestly, I can't really tell the difference. But, because of a tradition started long ago with my family, my favorite is the Corn Dog Castle in DCA. So glad it's open again. :yea:

That said, we all know that these corndog are probably not that good for you. So, moderation my friends. I limit myself to 1 maybe 2 per trip, depend on the length of my stay. ENJOY!

I used to not like corn dogs, but after having one from each park ( they are the same) I am hooked and cant get enough of them. They are so GOOD!

I may be in the minority here, but I never thought the corn dogs at the DLR are very great. I've had them multiple times, and they've always tasted bleh. In my opinion, I think Hot Dog on a Stick is MUCH better. I just learned about the spicy corn dogs though, and have yet to try them. Maybe that'll change my mind?
