  • [Question] Will DL ever see a trackless ride system?

Like Winnie the Pooh uses in Japan?

If DL ever builds a BATB ride......I can definitely see them using that type of system. Not sure what else would be a good fit. Suggestions?

As of right now, it looks like Sea World in Orlando will be the first here in the states with their Empire of the Penguin attraction opening next year.

The parking lot tram is a trackless ride system.

That would be nice if there was a trackless BATB ride! Vehicles circling around Belle and the Beast in the ballroom would be a nice sight.

I have been told that its a very expensive ride system to install and maintain. However, that doesn't mean that its not worth the cost because it could bring in a lot more guests if done right. A ride system is only as good as the story and its surroundings.

That's OK........Disney seems to like really expensive rides. See Cars Land.

Fantasyland Theater to be leveled in favor of Beauty and the Beast trackless dark ride? I'd take it.

I think it's best if it stays as a japan exclusive. They could have easily made a trackless system for Luigi's Flying Tyres or Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. It would have made the Luigi's funner and I would be willing to wait 40 minutes to ride that!I am pretty sure that it can operate in the rain (Aquatopia) and so it seems as though they are purposely keeping it a Tokyo exclusive.

What's with all the talk of "exclusives"??? How about if everyone all over the world gets to enjoy these rides and technologies? We would never see another new ride again at DL with that type of attitude......and we most definitely would not have seen RSR (hello Test Track!)

Sorry for thinking that it would be the case. Why doesn't every other space mountain have a cannon outside rocketing cars upwards. No, because that's a Disneyland Paris exclusive. Why doesn't any other Disney resort have a Mattherhorn Bobsleds ride? Because it's a Disneyland Resort exclusive. Why doesn't any other park have Crush's Coaster? Another exclusive. Why is Hong Kong the only park with a Grizzly Gulch? Hong Kong Disneyland Exclusive. Why doesn't any other resort have two water parks and an animal kingdom? because it's a WDW exclusive.
It just so happens that that ride technology is a very popular one but it's practically the only thing in their Magic Kingdom Park that is only found in Tokyo.
Yeah I agree with you for radiator springs racers and test track. I think we will see another ride at disneyland with that attitude. Will they be able to fit new rides though?

On the Matterhorn........could have something to do with the fact that is was built 50 years ago(?). The others.......yeah, they are "exclusives"......for now. Heck, Grizzly Gulch just opened.......and quite frankly, it is a hybrid of BT and EE (with a different storyline). Crush? Cute coaster........but not sure that thing would be a good "fit" in most Disney parks.

Getting back on topic.........why should a ride technology in another Disney park preclude it from being in DL??? Does that mean Imagineers are going to have to come up with completely original ride systems from this day forward???

No need to get upset. Some don't agree with your opinion, doesn't mean you or they are wrong it's just an opinion. However, MM is using trackless tech so come October 2013 Disney will have officially killed the exclusivity of trackless tech.
