  • [Question] Disneyland to lose Kodak Sponsorship?

Per the trades, Kodak is selling off 3 divisions, including the kiosk and image processing division.

I assume this means the there may be a loss of the Kodak sponsorship at Disneyland unless the new owners keep the sponsorship deal active.

Does anyone know what the loss of such a long term corporate sponsorship would mean for the park?

The report that I read, I believe in USA Today, but don't quote me on that, specifically mentioned that Kodak would maintain its presence in theme parks. So I assume Disney would not lose its sponsorship. I suppose only time will really tell though.

It means that Disney would have to get another sponser.

Kodak dropped its sponsorship of Imagination at Epcot but retained all other sponsorships.

It is no secret that Kodak is struggling, I have a feeling that Disney is a bigger asset to Kodak than Kodak is to Disney. If Disney lost the sponsorship, I can see a bidding war for the money to use Disney in promotions. Disney is about memory making for a lot of people, and so I see it as a HUGE marketing asset to any camera company. Although I feel like next in line would probably be Fuji since they have film, disposable cameras and digital.

Who needs a film company as a sponsor?

It could be a printing company... imagine Kinkos/Fedex..

You have large healthy companies like Canon, Nikkon, Sony, etc.

This company is in effect... shutdown. I can't imagine Disney is getting any significant payments out of them. It's probably just cheaper for Disney to stick with them for now rather than try to fight them in court over default since they'd never get in front of the line. They probably are just waiting for the whole liquidation and then have a new sponsor in the wings waiting.
