How have the lines been at closing and when do they stop people from getting in line?

I've noticed the ride tends to not break down as much at night in my experiences which speeds up the line..

Usually closing time is when queue entrances are blocked off and people are no longer allowed to enter.

I have been on RSR multiple times (around closing time and at closing time) and the wait times are the same as they've been throughout the day. Stand-by 120 min. Fast Pass 30min-45min. Single 15min-45min.

A CM ropes off the entrance once the park closes. However, if you are in the line before the park closes they will continue to operate the ride until every person in line has gotten their chance to ride.

RSR does breakdown during closing and around closing time. One time I was stuck waiting inside DCA after park hours because a family member was in line for RSR... and it broke down. It took about 20 minutes for them to get it back up running normally. But a word of warning: once RSR goes down it can sometimes take more than 3 hours for it to be repaired and ready for riders.

So if people are still on line and the ride breaks down, they can stay there until it gets back up, even if it is say 3 AM?

I'm sure they will announce the ride isn't opening back up way before 3am. I can't see them keeping people there that late on a ride they've spent plenty of time trying to open back up. Went to the park last week though and had no problems with it being broken. Rode it 6 times over 4 days during the morning and night. During 1 magic morning they couldn't get it to open until 8 though. So seems to be in great shape lately, or at least 2 weeks ago.

During a Saturday night in July, my friend and I watched the night's last showing of World of Color, then ran to RSR. The posted time said 90 minutes for standby but it went by VERY quickly.

On Sunday RSR broke down about 30 minutes before closing and they were allowing guests line up if they wanted to wait up until 11pm. We were told it could be up to two hours before they got it up and running but it was up running in about 20-30. Even though I was in line all they way back to the overflow we we in the ride and out in less than an hour. They cycled the attraction till everyone had ridden pretty quick

On Wednesday 29th Aug we took the single rider line at 9.20 p.m., the park was closing at 10 p.m., we got out of the ride exactly at 10 p.m. and walked over to World of Color.

I don't think they let that many people after us in.

Ok, I'm only mentioning this because it was a great gesture on my last evening in Cars Land.

I was wandering around Cars Land a bit (had been doing alot of other things, so hadn't ridden the ride since earlier that morning, my 6th time). I struck up a conversation with I'm assuming, a CM Supervisor (he was wearing a shirt and tie). We chatted about Cars, the quality of the land, John Lasseter (showed him a pic I took with John at the Cars World Premiere in 2006). I made mention how in the last few days, I had ridden the ride 6 times, and was probably not going to be back in Cars Land for the rest of my trip. The Supe glanced around a little, opened a little box and gave me a ride pass for Racers.

"Here, have a 7th trip on me," he said.

I profusely thanked him, was allowed into the lines, and quickly rushed down the rows to get in line. It definitely was a fun way to end the 12+ hours of overall time I spent there.
