Here's a video I recorded of the Fantasmic Glow with the Show. This video contains clips of the show like the Intro, jungle, Pinocchio, and Finale. I will upload the full version later.

This is the only time you will see a lot of guests wearing Glow with the Show ears walking out of Main Street:

For me Glow with the show works much better for World of Color. As you can see from my video I recorded of WOC this looks way better than Fantasmic.

You think its distracting when watching the show? Try being a performer in that performance.

Too bad it likely won't see a crowd like that again. The effect is neat, but you have to have greater than 50% of the audience involved to make it look good. One or two hats here and there won't show off the system to its full potential.

^well they did have two free events for APs....I think at least half of the people went to those shows too....


The tech is cool...but I really...just don't see how it "enhances" the show, call me a hater or what ever but I really feel like this is forced on Fantasmic ad just for more money....while at WOC...it at least made some sense

Agreed. I was there last night, and when I left I was thinking the same thing. It worked for WOC - actually enhanced the show, but it was a distraction for F! and one that I promptly ignored.

Thanks for the great video SoCalbma! I was standing behind the control booth and thought the addition of the Glow With the Show ears to Fantasmic was excellent. It was much better than what I expected. :thumbup:

I can understand why some may say the new glow ears detract from the show -- especially if you've seen the original Fantasmic (sans GWTS ears) hundreds and hundreds of times. But from what I observed last night, there were a couple 1st time viewers of Fantasmic standing near me and they were in awe by the entire show -- GWTS ears included!

Individuals too short to see the action on the water can benefit from the GWTS ears. The ears mimic the effects of the show. I was blocked from seeing the water during certain portions of the show because of a group of tall individuals but I was fine not seeing because of the GWTS ears. For example, if you can't see the flames in the water you can enjoy the theatrical effect by the flame effects of the ears people are wearing around you.

Great video!

I didn't think it was that distracting at all. It is at first because you just want to see the glow hat but it's a really cool effect that extends the show to the audience.


But yah... a typical audience wouldn't be as fun as last night. But... if they can market it right, it just might fly. Problem is... these hats aren't the most comfortable nor the most attractive.

Yeah, I'm not really sold on the concept. The only way to get this kind of a turnout is to give away the ears for free. On a regular night, you'd probably have only a handful of people wearing the ears, which isn't as spectacular. Plus, since the ears are on your own head, you wouldn't even be able to see them. Under normal circumstances (meaning not everyone around you is also wearing a pair), why would I pay that amount of money to give the people around me a show? Most people will probably end up not wearing their hats during the show and just holding them out in front of them so they can actually see what the hat is doing, which kind of defeats the purpose of it being a hat.

Plus, Fantasmic! doesn't need that kind of distraction. The show is captivating enough on its own.

Problem is... these hats aren't the most comfortable nor the most attractive.

because of the tect inside them, it's mostly, one size fits some and the ones it doesn't, makes it look like your heads too big. No one's fault but that's how it looks to me. Also I agree that the hat design itself is what holds me back from buying one. it's UGLY!

Its cool. It's not distracting to the performers. They are focused on a million other things. Not hats in the audience. We should all be happy that Disney is attempting to add interactive elements to aging shows. Great job Disney!

When I checked in last night at the Ticket Booths, the CM took a survey of our group of Who had the Glow Ears, planning to buy the Glow Ears, and who will not buy the Glow Ears. Anyone else get asked this?

Just as I figured it would be... VERY distracting from the show. I agree it works with WoC but for me it's totally out of place here. Yes the hats look neat when a large number of them are all synched up yadda yadda but I'm here to watch the performers in fantasmic not a light show :-P

It looks freakin' awesome. I didn't get to see it first hand, but the video makes it very appealing. I think most of the illumination from the ears is rather tasteful.
