  • News New unofficial day! Steam Day

    Hi everyone,

I just wanted to give you all a little heads up, there is a group working on organizing a new unofficial day at Disney Land: Steam Day. The idea behind it is to gather a group of like minded individuals who love all things steam punk or Gas lamp fiction. If you are interested in finding out more you can check out the Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/steam.day.14 or https://www.facebook.com/groups/225230137571435/ There are a variety of meet and greets already set up as well as ride take over times designated. Also just so you know the first day is going to be on September 30th.

Awesome! I'm not into Steampunk but I have friends who are. Should be cool.

Just a curious question. Do any of these groups that put on unofficial days such as this ever run into problems with Disney's ban on adults wearing costumes? I can see how something like Dapper Days is easy to disguise as not being a costume, but steampunk seems like it would be a little harder to pull off.

Considering how many events there are, I'd say that Disney is well aware of the various groups and don't think too much of the fashion choices. Bats Day is still alive and well, as far as I know.

I've seen a lot of Steampunk costumes that are, to put it lightly, cumbersome and fragile. Good luck riding space mountain with one of those things on...

Well, the Astro Orbiter might finally get some love from someone.

Disney is fine with the costumes as long as it's part of an organized event. Bats Day costumes can get pretty elaborate.

The limits do get pushed but the dress code is still enforced and there can be a few rare reports of people being turned away. For some reason some people think they can do anything and forget they are going to a family park.

As a high school junior 2012 was my first year as a steampunker as by more season Steamer's if this was a test I would have failed miserably. However that will not deter me in my later years as I get better cranking out new costume pieces.... LONG LIVE STEAMPUNK!!!!:yea:

The dress code for adults specifically forbids clothing that is "representative" of a Disney character. I doubt that Steampunk attire would violate that restriction. (Dressing as a Disney character is allowed at the separately-ticketed Halloween event but you can't pose for pictures with other guests or sign autographs.)

If I could ever come up with all the parts and pieces to the Steampunk outfit I have planned in my mind.... I would so do this! I've seen pictures during Bats day where the outfits are more SP than full goth. I think a lot of Steampunkers have been going on Bats day. It would be nice to have a day devoted just to SP!
