[Question] Ideal Disneyland Dream Vacation Length

With all the talk about tickets, Annual Passes, New Attractions, etc; etc;, I got to thinking.

What if cost wasn't a problem? What would, the length of your ideal Disneyland vacation be?

1 - 3 days

4 - 7 days

8 - 10 days

11 - 14 days

Just once is my life, I'd love to fly out to California, and be able to spend two weeks at the Disneyland Resort. So I voted for 11 - 14 days. Of course, I doubt that I will ever save that kind of money, but a gal can dream, can't she?

I'd say 3 days....but this is because I've gone sooo much....so by Day 3 I'm ok with going home (but usually if I do a vacation it's just 2 days because costs is an issue)

Through if I was going to say Disney World I'd need one day with each park...plus a day for Universal Islands so 5 days min over at Disney World

When you say 11 - 14 days do you mean each one of those days spent at the DLR?

IMO that is way too much. But if you take a few days to do some side excursions to other sites in So Cal that would be much more manageable and make a lot more sense.

I realize that I am the exception to the rule. However, I have visited Disneyland enough times now to know what I like, and how I would love to be able to visit Disneyland, just one time.

I'd love a 2 week long, totally DLR vacation. I could do absolutely everything that I want. I could eat in many of my favorite restaurants, and do as many character meals as I'd like. I could sleep in some mornings, and actually nap some afternoons. I could actually swim in the hotel pool. I could take a few tours perhaps. I could actually shop, even if I don't choose to buy anything. There really is a whole lot to do at Disneyland, and I haven't even skimmed the surface in my almost yearly trips since 2005.

I love to take pictures, and it's a given that I would do a lot of that, but I could also spend just one day where I didn't take any. I could fly by the seat of my pants, and just take the day as it comes. I wouln't have to watch the fireworks if I didn't want to. Instead I could do other things because I'd know that the fireworks are there for me on another night. I wouldn't feel obligated to always arrive at opening, and almost always stay til closing.

Disneyland is different things to different people, and for me it is a place to explore, and enjoy, and celebrate.

My age has a lot to do with wanting to do Disneyland this way just once. I don't go as fast as I used to, and one long wonderful trip would make more sense for me than a few shorter ones. When one knows they have the time to build in sensible rest periods, they don't wear themselves out. Instead they savor the moments.

It is more than a themepark to me. Don't judge my plan by what you are feeling, because obviously we all don't have the same feelings.

I agree ... as I have gotten older spending time in Disneyland has changed. Not less magical, but perhaps even more so.

One time I spent an entire afternoon just talking to Cast Members and hearing their stories about Disneyland, and how they started working there. I still remember Danielle, whom I met in Blue Sky Celler, telling me that growing up her favorite Disney princess was ... Ursula!

I would also love to spend an entire day just going around and taking time to listen to all the performers -- The Dapper Dans, the Ragtime Piano, all the Jazz in New Orleans Square -- without having to rush off somewhere.

We live in Northern California, and usually take only one DL vacation per year.

For me the ideal DL vacation as a tourist is 6 nights: Drive down on Sunday, stay all week, and drive back on Saturday.

You could do a full day of photography, look carefully at all the detail, eat at all the restaurants, etc.

Wish I could afford that, that would be paradise for me.

For me, 5 days is the perfect vacation to anywhere; from Disneyland to cruises. More than that and I start to miss home.

My parents take 3 week cruises all the time (just finished their 28th), I would hate that. LOL

Totally this!!!! How wonderful it would be to be able to treat a day in The Parks as a leisurely stroll in a park; stopping here & there, ride a ride now & again, do a little shopping, have a meal. All the while knowing that you had the next day, and the next, and the next up to 14 days to do everything you wanted to do. Wow. That would be incredible.

We're going in 17 days with a 4 day hopper, staying at the Grand. Wish I was going in 4 days with a 17 day hopper! LOL

I voted 1-3, but after reading this post, I think I've changed my mind.

Actually, I'd say 4-7. I don't know if there's enough to fill an entire week (never leaving Disney), but I'd love the time to not rush, and see and do everything I want to do. I'd figure that's about 4 days, opening to close. Of course, in MY 4 days, it's summer hours, but no crowds, so that may alter things a bit. I also enjoy exploring the hotels. Come to think of it, change that 4 to about 5 or 6 days.

For me a 6-night stay with a 5-day Park Hopper was perfect. It was enough time to see most things without rushing but it wasn't too much time leaving room for boredom.

We are heading to DL very soon !! We fly non-stop to LAX, arriving around 9AM in the morning. We catch a shuttle to our Hotel, and most likely are in DL by lunchtime; Day One. We have Hotel reservations for 4 nights. Our departing flight is around 9PM, so we end up with 5 days in the park. Perfect dose of Disney!!

I never fly into LAX. I always fly into John Wayne Airport. It is easier to get to and from Disney and Anaheim.

That is exactly how my trip will be in February.We will be at The Grand California for 11 nights and will spend our days strolling through the parks,sleeping in,smelling the roses......We are very laid back travellers and just like to do whatever presents itself and seems like fun at the moment.I can't wait to see the Rivers of America and Fantasmic though as they were drained and boarded up on our first trip.:yea:

Forever. That's an interesting thought. However, as much as I'd like that, I believe we all need to eventually step back into the real word. Vacationing at Disneyland is wonderful. I'd be afraid to cross that line into forever for fear of losing the magic.

Yes, it is an interesting thought! But in my honest opinion, the love I have for Disney is one that is strong. The idea of spending the rest of my life at the place that I love, that makes me feel ecstatic inside, and in the company of those who share the same love, doesn't strike me as something that would hinder my love for the park, but rather strength it strongly:D But, that's just me!
