[Chat] Mickey's Halloween Party for a 2 year old

My son loves Mickey Mouse and I want to take him to Disneyland to meet him but right now funds are short and we are a family of 5 so it adds up!
I was thinking of taking the family to Mickey's Holloween Party since it is much more affordable. Our goal is for my son to meet mickey. Does anyone know if he usually appears? If we get in 3 hours before the park closes is he still in ToonTown to meet at his house?

We went to the Halloween party last year for the first time and loved it! Yes, you should probably be able to see Mickey in ToonTown early. However, you can also meet him during the event. Last year we took a picture with Mickey and Minnie together dressed in their Halloween themed outfits. Very cute! The line took about 15 minutes.

Even tough kids love characters they know on tv and as plush toys doesn't mean they will love them when in the parks. Being 5 feet tall and with giant heads can be scary for many young children.

Going for a Halloween Party is a great idea. You should find Mickey in ToonTown until Toontown closes in the evening. In his house when you get to the movie room ask the CM to see if Mickey is in his Tux, Sorcerer Robe or Band Uniform. Ask to see him in the wardrobe your prefer. Later at the party he will be out too, however the classic characters wear costumes during the party so that may be a little strange if your 2yo isn't familiar with Halloween.



I'd suggest a Tuesday party that run 6pm to 11pm, though you can enter at 3pm, just so nobody is getting as tired as when the Friday parties go to 12am.

I don't know what time toon town closes on the night with the parties, but mickey has always been out in his Halloween Costume during the party. The line can be tolerable when teh party first starts, but I have found that it quickly stretches to 30 minutes plus as the night wears on. Hopefully you can get there early and see him toon town before it closes though.

I do have to agree swampy marsh about the kiddos being scared of the real life mickey. My 2 year old loves all the Disney characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. But when we tried to get her to meet them last year, she wasn't too excited about eh giant headed adult size mice.

Thanks everyone! I am worried about him meeting him but we took out other kids at age 2 and the experiance they had was so different compared to when we took them at 5. Age 5 was still a good age but everything was so much more 'real' to them at age 2 (even if they don't remeber it, the pics we have are priceless)!

It's different for every kid. Some kids can't wait to meet both face and fur characters, and some like to observe from a distance. At his age, it should be fine, but he should be the judge of that, of course! But in my experience, younger kids are absolutely enchanted by Disneyland, maybe even more so than older ones!

The Halloween Party is a great time, but definitely see Mickey in TT before it starts. We went last year with DS at 2 and 1/2 and he really wanted to see Mickey (he was dressed up as Mickey). There's a M&G at the Big Thunder Ranch--Mickey doesn't roam. We waited in line for 35 minutes and barely moved. DH and I actually waited while my parents took DS to another treat station, then came back and Mickey was "out for 5 minutes" except 15 minutes later we just gave up. We also had to wait about 30 minutes for Pooh and Friends. That's a LONG time for a little one to wait when he/she can see the character right there but can't go up. Plus if they freak out, you've wasted all that time. So I'd try to see Mickey in TT first.

Our youngest was two when we went to the Halloween Party last year. She loved it! We didn't go to Mickey's house, but we saw him walking around. We did wait in line to see Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh, and we only waited about fifteen to twenty minutes for that. She was afraid of Eeyore for some reason, but she loved Pooh, and she would touch and hug him-- if I held her. We also waited about thirty minutes to see Jack Skellington, and she didn't even want to look at him. She just buried her head in my shoulder while my older kids talked and laughed with Jack. Anyway, overall our two-year-old really enjoyed the party and the trick-or-treating. It was a great night.
