  • [Fun] Favorite out of the park Disneyland activity

There's a lot more to Disneyland today than just the theme parks. With the hotels, downtown Disney, and all the rest, what's your favorite thing to do outside the parks?

Me? I love to sit and listen to the pianist in the lobby of the Grand Californian. So soothing and relaxing. Really transports me away.

    How bout you?

I liked the waterfall at the Disneyland hotel. But I just read it was removed.

That was a wonderful location. It really is sad that it went.

Don Jose! About 10-12 minutes from the park. It's not a Disneyland trip without some delicious Mexican food from that wonderful restaurant:D.

I spend 99% of my time in the parks.. The 1% is spent walking back to the hotel and maybe stopping at one of the stores in DTD.

I do have to say I'm a bit surprised nobody has yet mentioned Trader Sam's.

Catal. Great food, and it is fun sitting out on their patio overlooking Downtowm Disney on warm nights or having a large group and getting the big table near the fireplace on cold nights.

My parents love to sit and listen to the piano too.

I have to say I really like eating on the patio of the restaurants in downtown disney and people watching.

I always go to Don Jose with my aunt and uncle whenever I visit. I love it there.

Other than that, I like to go to the beach if possible (Newport ftw) and walk around the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney.

The beach for sure. We went to Laguna last trip and it was a great day!

Ahh, I love Laguna Beach. I haven't been to Laguna since 2008. It was late November so it was really cold.

Miss this too, very deeply. So many memories attached to this place it that I took it pretty hard not just that it was being removed, but replaced with a lawn. Wow.

Anyway, when I feel like being in the Resort area - but not necessarily like going inside - I like taking a nice long walk around dusk with Miles Davis in my mp3/phone earbuds around the outside of the parks, between the DLH and the PPH, down the illuminated treeline along West St, left on Katella and past the Convention Center (love the indigo lighting at night), back up Harbor to cut through the Esplanade and back to where I started.

Good exercise and a great way to just calm down after a long day.

                        AP'er since 2004. Yup.....I'm one of THEM.

Huntington Beach and Newport Beach are the two closest beaches to Disneyland. It takes about 20 - 25 minutes or so to get there from Disneyland.

Back in the days before freeways Beach Blvd was the way to get to Huntington Beach and Harbor Blvd was the way to get to Newport Harbor.

I forgot about this. Man do I sure miss this beautiful sight.

Has anyone been to Medieval Times? That's a pretty neat thing to go and experience. I don't know if they still have it or not though. I would like to see it again the next time I go.

I love to do this as well. One visit my dad and I spent near an hour simply relaxing in the lobby and enjoying its wonderful atmosphere.

Oh, yes. Medieval Times is still there in Buena Park. A bit pricy, but a whole lot of fun! Any chance to eat with your fingers is alright with me!

Whenever we're parked in upper levels of the Mickey and Friends parking structure I like to stand by the walkway along the edge and see the city lights.

I used to do this from the balconies at the Disneyland Hotel when I would stay there. It's too bad they took away the balconies. I'm not sure if it was to save money on air conditioning or to keep people from taking swan dives off of them.
