  • [Question] Aiw refurb

Sorry if this has already been addressed but I was just curious if anyone knows about how long this refurb will take?? I know it is set to start sometime in september but I can not find any info on disneyland.com on when it starts etc.

Last trip we did not get to do it as it was just coming off its last rehab installing the ugly reworkings and the line was outrageous and since we only had 3 days we just skipped it.

So any info that you all would have would be appreciated!!!

    Thanks!!!

    AIW?

Some rides do much better with single name abbreviations than acronyms.

Alice in Wonderland refurb is still a rumor. No dates set.

Look forward to the hundred of attractions they get to do one last time, not the couple they won't.

The best thing to do in this situation is to remain flexible. DLR is more than just the rides. Don't rush around from attraction to attraction. That's missing the point.

Agreed. Having a sundae at Gibson Girl, riding on the Mark Twain, and taking them to see the Aladdin show are all great things you can do with them, that aren't rides.

One of the rumors is that AIW is waiting for various parts from a supplier. Once they arrive, it is quite possible that this attraction will go down w/ little to no notice. This same rumor says that the likelyhood that this will happen before October 16 is pretty slim.

If your parents are in wheelchairs or mobility scooters, you go in through the exit of Alice and queue up next to the fence. They will be allowed to enter the ride vehicle from there. You might not have to miss the ride if the regular line is really long.

Yes I knew what was meant (after I though about it) but why does EVERYTHING have be an acronymized? Why not just ask when is the Alice refurb scheduled? Why does it have to be AIW?

people "acronymize" primarily, IMO (see what I did there? hehe), because it makes them feel more "up" on a subject. Makes 'em feel special. Tingly even. Warm. Fuzzy. Smooooth... and Cool. Think I'll stop now

I consider myself well-versed on DLR but I had no idea what AiW was, or what park it was in, until Cheshire pointed it out.

I kind of agree. I mean, we could say "We entered FL through SBC, then tried to decide if we wanted to ride PPF or MTWR, or SWSA and PDJ. However, there was no line for KAC and DtFE as well as SLCB. The MTP is always a favorite though."

I mean, at some point you just sound pretentious.

I only use acronyms for attractions that I don't have the patience to spell, (it's tough to be a bug, buzz lightyears astro blasters).

let's get back to the subject though!

The best way to communicate your thoughts and include everyone in the discussion is to spell out the term or name the first time you use it, and place the acronym or initials in parentheses immediately after. For example: One of my favorite rides is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (BTMR). Then you and anyone that responds to the thread can use the abbreviation throughout the rest of the thread.

Personally, I can type the full name in less time than I would spend trying to figure what the appropriate acronym is. Funny thing though, I opened this thread just so I could figure out what AiW was.

Every now and then I'll type "LOL". It means "Laugh out loud"; not referring to a ride, sorry for any confusion...

(...and, actually, the newer version which seems to be "^^this," especially without a proper thread quote in the response.)

Isn't Alice usually somewhere in the park for "meet and greet," which could substitute for the ride in a pinch?
