I know many of you won't agree, but in my opinion, it's partially the guests' responsibility to pick up their own trash (and others' trash) if they want to continue coming to a clean park.
It shouldn't be necessary to clean up after others, but sometimes it is. Sometimes people just don't understand that it's not other people's job to clean up after them, but unfortunately they don't change.
Also, there's probably a lot of kids who don't know any better and throw their trash on the ground, or maybe people who occasionally leave a cup behind on accident, I've probably mistakenly done something like this before.
When I walk around the park, I pick up any piece of trash I see and throw it in the nearest receptacle. It's a tiny inconvenience to me, and it takes no time out of my day. Pick it up, keep walking toward ride, throw it in the trash I see on the way.
I'm not looking for a Honorary Guest pin (already have one
), or for a custodian to thank me, or for a pat on the back, but it's just my way of giving back to the park that gives me so much happiness and so many memories.
I smile when I see other people doing it, and this is a rare occasion. If you're a germaphobe, I understand, and I don't expect anyone to do this even if you're not. But I wish more people would, because it's so nice to see, and honestly the world would be a much cleaner place if people treated it like Disneyland. It's a cycle. People see a clean park, they continue to uphold a clean park. That's how Walt saw it, anyway.
So, who of you all picks up trash?
Or, if you don't, tell us why not
