  • [Pictures] 1956 Southern California Views

A short while ago, I was fortunate enough to purchase the October 1956 magazine pictured below. I bought this for the featured story on the Disneyland Hotel which would no doubt cover the official grand opening from August 1956. I got a couple of bonuses when buying this magazine which I will feature below.

Here are the two pages of the Disneyland Hotel article:

And now, some close-ups of these pictures:

And now, bonus #1. There was also an article within the magazine from the 50's Southern California TV shoe called Panorama Pacific. Have any readers ever heard of this show? I know I have not but I am from Northern California. Anoter photo spread and story related to the Disneyland Hotel.

Photos of a fashion show held at the Disneyland Hotel and interesting text on some of the very early events at the facility.

That main lobby is swank! I mean it is stylin' to the max. I'd like to sit there with the morning paper, have "Quiet Village" playing on the sound system, and casually flirt with other guests walking by. Might even find love! Is that lobby still there?

I wish that lobby was still there. I love that style.

                But of course.

And now for the completely unexpected bonus from within this magazine. A featured story on the 1956 Los Angeles Rams. Can anybody guess who played for the Rams in 1956?

Don't see the story on the Rams.
                    Wild guess... Vince Lombardi?
Only name I can think of.
