If Disney does read these boards we need to be pointing out why Iger is so inadequate for the role. I'll start...

Iger's got ABC, and with the recent turn around, almost entirely due to 2 shows, he grabs the numbers to show his great leadership. Problem is, that Bobby wanted to lose Lost before it even arrived. How can you hire a man with no vision?

The guy can't even run ABC. The two biggest shows were developed
by two other people who were fired and he takes credit for them!
According to Disneywar, he is just as bad a liar and back-stabber as Eisner is.
Lets see how he does in a year. If he starts cutting budgets at the parks
and the share prices drop I say fire him and those with stock vote the entire
Board of Directors out since they are the spineless no-guts whimps who can't stand up to Eisner and voted Iger in.
This news ruined my whole day....

NEWS: MSNBC is reporting this morning that the Disney company will hold a press conference today to officially name Robert Iger as the replacement to Michael Eisner for CEO of the company at the end of Eisners term. (courtesy of Horizons78)

The WDC is now offically over. Iger will turn the company even MOOOOOORE genereic and blase than it was. Everyone better stampede to get APs for UO and UC better ramp up thier efforts in the park. Cause w/ Iger EVEREST will probably be the LAST Disney attraction EVER.

I believe that once Eisner is absolutely totally removed from Disney Iger will show some promise. Its because he really is aware of Eisners mistakes and that he can now run the the show unfettered, I'll put more trust in him than an exec from Eprey....

I think he also passed on the CSI franchise.
The real downside (to us DL fans) is that more money and attention will go to the networks, since he knows that business, and less toward Disneyland.
Another bad-case scenario wouold be that some hotshot in TV land will be chosen head of the parks, replacing Cast Member Matt. This person will then work on attend to the synergy of TV and parks, somehow. You can envision the disastrous results.

This is what we were afraid would happen, and it did.
I never have understood why the board felt like that was the direction they wanted to go. Considering how many people would be placated by the news that an Eisner clone would not be the replacement, you would think that would give them some reason to go with someone else. Why is he the only one that will do with them? Did he really do so much the stockholders see him as invaluable? Did Eisner simply say, pick only him? From everything I have heard, he sounds like anything but a visionary.

Iger will not last too long in that position. Why? Because I predict a shareholder's revolt as well as the stock plunging downward. The Disney board allowed Eisner to sit in on interviews for the CEO post..may outside candidates refused to particpate in the process......

I actually think Bob will do a great job. He is expereinced and has run the company. He IS greenlighting all the maintence at the parks right now. Before we chide him, the alternative or Paul Pressler was scary to be sure. Better than some of the candidates that they were looking at. So glad Gary Coleman and Gallagher dropped out of the running early.

Hey, maybe that cool idea that Bob Iger had for a show called Stacey's Mom will get make it into production. This show was suppose to be about a Mother who all the boys in the in nieghborhood had the hots for. Great family material! Maybe it should premier on Playhouse Disney.

The problem is that many shareholders DO NOT VOTE and never read their proxy. Kind of like the presidential election, they probably feel their one vote will not change anything.
