I notice spelling errors all the time in online articles these days. I don't mind seeing errors in social media (hey, we're all on our iPhones anyway, right?), but it bothers me when I see egregious errors on CNN and the like.

    But back to the shuttle...

The Endeavour was named after HMS Endeavour, the ship that Captain Cook used to travel the world and make many scientific observations, including the Venus transfer over Hawaii, I believe. The voyages were significant in that they established the practice of bringing scientists on board. The name was suggested by school children in a nationwide contest. In fact, it was the most popular suggestion.

So that's the explanation for the British spelling of Endeavour.

    But don't feel bad, Disneyland.

NASA has occasionally misspelled it, too.

I totally wanted to keep one of the signs. But then where would I put it??

If the sign was misspelled or not, I am sure those signs, or at least one of them, went to the archive in Burbank.

IMHO there is to much emphasis on spelling. Not everyone is a good speller and as long as you know what they are trying to say who cares if it may not be correctly spelled. Unless of course on a sign or in public places.

Hate to sound old, but I think there was a time that this happened less often. Maybe I just notice it more since the advent of the web and the fact we all have phones w/ cameras.

Not to mention the misspelling of "Blu-ray" as "Blue-ray" from a few days ago.

Note: You misspelled "too" in your post.

You don't change the spelling of a proper noun just because the spelling of the common noun differs from country to country.

Theatre is misspelled many times at Disneyland.

People in Canada and Europe think otherwise.

Um, no. The word can be spelled differently, but the shuttle name is a proper noun.

And they called it a "Spaceship" instead of "Shuttle". It was a big bunch of mistakes all the way through, but I think they had to make it in a hurry because no one was certain it would even happen because of NASA's tight control of the flight path and exact location other than just vaguely worded information. But it was fun to see in person and I would not have missed it for the world.

The one I saw (and captured a picture of) was just like this one.
Space Shuttle Endeavour Flyover at Disneyland | Disney Day Trippers

Under the nd that probably says "resort" (I couldn't see that small)

The pictures that I saw of the signage had the word "Resort" under the word "Disneyland".

First, I was curious to see the verbage... "The" Disneyland, instead of just Disneyland when i was there for this historic event.

    Second.

What do you suppose that did with those signs afterwards? Recycle?
