  • [Question] Does first day AP use still cover block out days?

I know that this use to work in the past, but not sure if it still holds true. It used to be that if you purchased an AP that had blockout days (example Deluxe AP on most Saturdays), the first day of use/activation was not limited to the standard blockout day rules. Can someone answer that question please?

I know a work around would be to buy a single day ticket and then upgrade to an AP before the day is over, but that just means more time spent at the ticket booth performing the conversion from ticket to AP.

    Thanks in advance.

It is not limited. On first day purchase, if day is blocked out, you will be given the voucher to enter.

This only works for the first day of purchase, if that day is blocked out.

This happened to me back in August, my son has a Deluxe and I purchased it on the Deluxe's blocked out day but was given the ticket to enter as if I paid for the blocked out day.

Yes, it will get you into the park on the day you purchase it despite being blocked out.

Will FP still work? "Voucher" was mentioned, and those are a large pice of paper and they don't look like tickets or plastic APs. Thx in advance.

^ Blockout day tickets look like the tickets you get when you park your car at the parking lots. The Voucher has your name, pass number, and type of pass on the front. You simply hand that pass to the Castmember at the turnstile and they will scan your blocked pass and enter a code to override the system. You will use your AP for fastpass and park hopping.

You will also be given a Block-out day exception ticket if you upgrade your pass to a pass that is blocked out.

Here is a tip, if you want to purchase a NEW Deluxe pass and you are a SoCal resident, purchase a SoCal Select first then on each visit upgrade to the next AP tier up. This way you get 3 "Free" blockout days.

Nice to know. It never occurred to me that this would come up as a situation. But as was said, perfect description

Does the same apply to passes that were purchsed as a gift? My friends were just given passes as a wedding gift. They are the paper print out from the online purchase. So since they have to go to the park to have them activated, can their first visit be a blocked day?

^^^yes, I would assume so considering that it is the same as if they were buying them on that day

Blockout days NEVER apply to your first visit.
