Inside The Magic asked a question on Facebook earlier today about whether or not there are any real ghosts in the Haunted Mansion. Lots of responses about a crying boy ghost and a man with a cane. Few others too. Pretty creepy stuff. Anyone here seen anything? Is any of this documented? I'm "dying" to know more about this. ;-) I don't know if I could actually ride it any more if I knew it was really haunted. I'm such a wimp when it comes to that sort of thing. :shy:

Re: Real Ghosts in The Haunted Mansion?!
That stuff totally freaks me out, too, which I think is why I love the ride so much. If there were many reports of actual hauntings, it would give me the creeps even more so, making me want to ride it that much more!! I hope you get some exciting responses on this!

Re: Real Ghosts in The Haunted Mansion?!
Ghosts, assuming they even exist ( my avatar and auto-sig should explain this a bit ) typically all have certain commonalities reported, regardless where in the world they are reported to be. Some of those commonalities are that something of fairly significant trauma happened to one or more people, at great enough degree that their soul/ghost/whatever has remained in the material world, somehow bonded to their surroundings and ( as some speculate ) not even aware that they're dead.
Down here in San Diego we have the Whaley House, often listed in the top 10's world's most actual haunted places. I've been there many times and never seen anything that remotely registers to me as spooky or weird, but then again I've seen YouTube videos with Crispin Glover in them so it's pretty hard to recognize "weird" when you're this far desensitized on the topic.
Of the few passings known to happen in the park, nothing happened in the Haunted Mansion and I can think of no reason any dead spirit would feel any connection to that building. The fact that people always pass a rumor around about there being a real ghost or two in there just seems to substantiate what a great job imagineers did making the place seem "creepy." ....just like Crispin Glover.

...but for a small fee, I'm willing to load up the Ecto, drive over there and scan the building if it makes anyone feel better.

I jest but I think it's all based on what people, personally believe. Some claim to have actually seen things but I would need to see for myself. However, on the flip side, I do believe there are Angels who touch our lives in different shapes and forms. Maybe through other people or from the stories your hear of "a "good samaritan" just came out of nowhere saved my life then disappeared".
Nothing proven scientifically though.

Re: Real Ghosts in The Haunted Mansion?!
With sincere regret, and as no reflection on the OP or participants of this thread, I am now closing this thread. There are a few subjects that we, as a group, just don't seem to be able to discuss. This is one of them. One of our most divisive threads in recent years had this very same premise. Early on, it became a fight to the death (perhaps to test the beliefs of the participants), wherein those on every side of the discussion chose to "prove" their concept, through personal attacks on those who disagreed with them. We are not going to revisit this subject, folks.
