  • [Question] silhouettes at disneyland?

i just recently heard about the silhouette shop on main street and i'm super interested in getting one on my next trip. i just had a few questions for people who may have gotten them done before:
    1. is it usually pretty busy/a long wait?
    2. if i have my "ears" on, will she be able to capture them?
    3. do they charge extra if i get a character in the background?

any and all answers or thoughts are appreciated!

"oh, i just love happy endings!"

We've never waited long. I'm not sure about wearing your ears, but I do know there is a fee for a character to be included. I believe it's the same cost as having another person added. I can't remember how much it is per person.

I think I paid like $18 to have a silhouette done with myself and Jack Skellington back in 2008. Disney characters are a little extra than another person if I remember correctly. I tried to get another one earlier this year but the line was always too long. I never made it back to the studio earlier this month to try again so oh well.

I think they said they do a maximum or four characters. Also they can't do Pixar, or Pooh characters.
I've always waited longer to pay then to get the actual silouette

My Experience as well. To me this is the epitome of growing up with the park. And the best part? I had several done as a child and the same gal who did mine, also did my daughters first one at 2.

I try to get one done every other year with her. This year we plan to do one with my husband, myself and our daughter. To me this is a unique souvenir of visiting the park and very personal. With children it will never be the same portrait until they reach adult size. And the artists are super talented!!

            1. Depends on the time, but usually no.
            2. Yes. It's amazing what they can do. If you ask nicely, some might actually alter your picture to something else provided you give them a good picture or information, like put you in a derby or top hat.
            3. Characters are an extra charge. And there a limits to how many pictures can be put together. It's not just fitting them the artist having room to cut, but it also becomes more difficult for the paster to put them all back together again.

In short, as far as Disney goes, it's a fairly inexpensive unique gift. These days, you can get a framed silohoutte for cheaper than a pair or embroidered mouse ears, if I'm not mistaken, for frequently a less wait. Go for it.

Anyone willing to post their silhouette pictures?

They no longer do nmbc characters....a friend of mine works in there, she is one of the best there. she did my Sally zero and scarry teddy which she isn't aloud to do now....but the haunted Mansion ones she is doing are awesome. so far the duelist and the stretch portraits that she is currently trying out look amazing.....the wait isn't usually busy and the wait is usually around 15 minutes. I've always been in and out very quickly and was able to pick it up in like 20-30 minutes for the glue to dry. Worth it!
Little and broken, but still good.

Is there a list of characters you can have included? I'm thinking the Fab 5 are givens, but what about the rest of the Disney canon?

Just a note...you can also get your pets done, as long as you bring in a good profile photo of them. We had a dog and cat done a while back, and the results were quite nice (though obviously not as exact as a human profile).

When I get the chance I'll take a picture of one of mine. I have three total, I believe.

Thanks as well CrazyBirdMan. I was really curious what they did with the Disney characters. I like it & it might even make a nice souvenir for me during my trip in 4 weeks.
