  • [Fun] Do you prefer the Monorail or PeopleMover?

    Simple question....which attraction is/was better?

I liked the PeopleMover because it was open and you could see more of the park. I also liked how it went into the buildings and you could see what was going on inside of them!

It's probably more that I miss it that I chose the People Mover.

I enjoy that it toured you around TL. The Monorail was far more just transportation.

I have only been on the Monorail, so that is my vote.

Peoplemover guy, here. It was a fantastic ride that brought a lot of life to Tomorrowland. Seeing glimpses of the Peoplemover at all those other attractions, and throughtout Tomorrowland really brought a cohesion to the area. It was a great way to kick you heels up for 15 minutes and relax as Tomorrowland moved by you. I really do miss it.

Monorail. I've honestly never been able to get my head around why people love the PeopleMover so much.

Neither. Both served a similar purpose in differing ways. Can't really compare them given the intentional differences.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Isn't that the basis for comparisons?

                This.

I think people want the PeopleMover simply for nostalgia and not for functionality.

If the PM could have actually taken you somewhere, and not just provide a tour ...

The DL monorail is boring. The trains are small, stuffy and trips are usually one-way only. I suppose the monorail is more functional if you use it for that purpose but from an attractions point-of-view I would much prefer the PeopleMover.

they should build a people mover system to take guests from the parking lot structures to the main gate area. it would be much more efficient than trams, it would be non stop, ever loading, and would not require gasoline to pollute the air.

I don't think the Monorail should be used as an attraction. I think it is mostly used to relay guests from Downtown Disney to Disneyland and it should be treated as such. It is a means of transportation for guests. Some people use it for a tour, yes, but honestly... how many?

To me, that was largely the point of the People Mover. It was supposed to be just that: a relaxing tour to spotlight the highlights of Tomorrowland. To me, that's what made it supperior. In many ways, Monorail was simply a big, elevated bus. In fact, before DCA was built, I avoided Monorail like the plague, since I didn't want to see the uninspiring sites of Harbor Blvd. and the parking lot.
I do think the experience has improved since the vehicles are "closed in" by the two parks and Downtown Disney.
