[Rumor] Candlelight Processional Move To Hyperion Theater For 2013

I heard rumors that next year the Candlelight Processional will be moved to the Hyperion Theater in 2013.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? Does this makes sense since it breaking tradition for the past years?

David's a pretty good source but i would like to see Disney confirm this. Its huge moving a 54 year tradition out of Disneyland into DCA. Just won't be the same.

That's just stupid the reason it's called a processional is that it involves walking. Main Street Station is a prime location if this has any coalition to this years events is probably because they have is scheduled for 20 DAYS!! Main Street is getting more crowded at night because of it most likely. What will they call it, Disney's Candlelight Spectacular?

Wow, I hate myself for saying this, but this has more good than bad to it. I've only seen the CP as a standby line participant, and I think the march through Main Street USA with the lights turned down low is beautiful. And the CP obviously has a long tradition at Disneyland. But this year, they've cancelled the CM holiday parties, also a long-standing tradition (regardless of whatever quality people may say about it). So that might be a clue there.

This is also a year when the number of CP dates have exploded from previous amount of minimal performances. And some of those performances were cancelled due to rain. And all this takes place during the popular holiday season when I would guess is much busier than when Walt was alive. Having the town center cleared and folks inside to watch the CP from nice, soft chairs more than a little bit of a logistical win-win for Disneyland operations I would think.

From a practical side, having the CP inside the Hyperion allows it to be presented similarly to having it in Main Street Town Center. Of course, it would definitely be an entirely difference experience, but you could still have a similar, moody experience with the lighting level low as singers walk down every aisle to approach the stage. But there would likely be no cancelled shows during inclimate weather, there'd be comfortable seating, and the number of performances might even be reduced since it holds more per show than current seating allows. Cost-wise it could break even to have it there.

I dunno. As a guy who enjoys seeing Disneyland retain its traditions, I can see some merit to breaking with tradition.

I hope it starts on Mainstreet and the Ceremony is held in the Fantasyland Theatre if not done how it is now.

Keep the tradition of a processional for the first two weekend days of December, then move the other times to the Hyperion Theater. Quite doable.

I read that to I think it was on Mouseplant and I like the idea of them moving it to Hyperion Theater it will make Main St. less crowed and it be easyer to use the train and see the Parade better. To me I don't mine the Candelight only for a few days but for 20 or so days that is just wrong. I really don't care for the candelight myself so having it at HT it be all right in my book.

The current Disneyland schedule (Entertainment Times Guide) calls it "Candlelight Procession and Ceremony."

I like the idea of keeping some on Main Street but having it also at the Hyperion to accommodation of larger audiences.

I think Disney has already firmly broken with tradition with this by having 20 performances instead of making it a special one-weekend event.

Having said that I think that moving it to the Hyperion would be a good move, if they intend to keep it for 20 nights. They can do the special invite-only performances in Main Street and then relocate. Locking up Main Street every evening for the month at the busiest time of the year seems problematic.

I agree it clogged up main street and main street station but it wasn't such an issue when it was only 2 nights before instead of 20. Making it 20 really made it a problem and now they wanna move the problem out. Should have just kept tradition to 2 nights and not cause more trouble.

All these vanishing traditions that were started when Walt was around gave the park a richer history and helped us connect to a time when Walt was alive. They are severing that connection more and more and its sad.

What I think will happen are two things: A. It'll move to the Fantasyland Theatre, not the Hyperion, or B. It will stay and the back alley of Main Street USA will be built to help alleviate the congestion caused by Candlelight.
