  • [Question] Should Frontierland have a train station?

Okay, so I've been thinking and logistically it makes sense for Tomorrowland to have a station because it's the only Eastern land in the park. The problem is, it breaks the futuristic theme. Frontierland would be better suited and guests do go pretty far without a stop. So I'm wondering if people would support a switch? Maybe the station could be near the ranch? I'm not sure exactly, but would you oppose not being able to take the train to Tomorrowland?

I wouldn't oppose, I just think that it wouldn't help. New Orleans train station is just right there and as you stated TL is the only Eastern land in the park so the train station is needed.

I've always thought that if they'd just add more scenery/theme to the TL train station, like time travel elements, the train station can fit into the land wonderfully.

I for one would hate the loss of the TL station I use it a lot. As for a FL station I wouldn't mind if there was one after an expansion of that area.

I wouldn't want to lose the TL station to gain a FL station, but I wouldn't mind a station in FL if they could figure out how to add one.

I do also agree that the TL station could use some spruced up theneing - the before mentioned Time Travel theme would be pretty cool.

The one in New Orleans Square kinda is the station for Frontierland

Re: Should Frontierland have a train station?

The New Orleans Train station used to be Frontierland Train Station, and the building on the opposite side is the Original Frontierland Train Station. The renamed it after the New Orleans was built up and is closer to the station than Frontierland. So the Tomorrowland station just needs some more futuristic look and it would fit right in. The Time Travel approach would solve the problem of a Steam Engine coming through.

Yes. I think a Frontierland station would work if it was placed down the line a bit, but only after a Frontierland expansion. The Toontown station would then be eliminated.

I also agree that the TL station is needed. It is so handy. I too wouldn't mind some sort of aditional theming.

Am I missing something but wouldn't a Frontierland station mean the train goes 100 feet before stopping again at Toon Town? I don't see how Tomorrowland is even an issue. Toontown and Frontierland would be almost immediately next to eachother.

If it were to be themed to Time Travel I would kinda imagine it would be like Doc Browns Train in Back To The Future: Part 3 which would be cool. I'm not saying it would be like exactly that as it is a Universal Product. I like this idea though cause how else do you get a Time Traveling Train unless...You enter...the Twilight Zone! :O

Expand Frontier land into the jamboree area. Add e-ticket and mining town with station. Maybe they can remove toontown station if they open up the are between frontier and fantasy land.

No. The park is small enough that the 5 very well spaced stations aways leave you in an area close to a land. Any additional stations would completely ruin the flow of the actual train ride. It's nice to have longer stops between stations.

                            1. There are 4, not 5.
                            2. I'm proposing a switch, not an additional.

Yes, 4. No need for a switch IMO. I think the existing station serves 3 lands very well. Again, just my opinion.

What I would prefer is if they expand Frontierland and expand the loop to go behind the expansion they add the fifth station there. But if they kep the track in place leave the stations where they are.

I would love a Frontierland station, but not if it meant getting rid of the Toontown station. The Toowntown station's awesome for families in that section of the park, that are leaving for the day and don't want to have to drag their cranky, tired kids across the park.

Re: Should Frontierland have a train station?

You are proposing a switch, but you could not feasibly switch Fronierland and Tomorrowland. The only conceivable place to put a Fronierland station would be at the location of the Jamboree. Not that it isn't a good place, but it's true that like 100 feet down on the other side of that tunnel is the Toontown station. The trains wouldn't be able to run like that. Eliminating the Tomorrowland stop would force people to stay on the train and go halfway around the park, with no stop having good access to Tomorrowland, including the Monorail and Matterhorn. Not to mention any removal or replacement of Toontown station means a much much longer walk for anyone in most of Fantasyland or all of Toontown.

I understand that you are thinking of thematic reasons, but there is a reason there are 4 stations and why they are spaced fairly evenly. It's to allow the trains to operate properly. When previously there were only two trains and two stations spaced closed together, you got on at one station and were forced to ride the grand circle tour with no stops along the line. I think people would prefer being able to get off where they wanted!

If you look carefully at the billboards near the entrance to the Tomorrowland Train Station, it actually does suggest some sort of time travel.

Re: Should Frontierland have a train station?

In short, no, there need not be a Frontierland train station... especially if there is an expansion of Frontierland as it seems there could be on the horizon.

A path a mere 300 ft long could be put in following the path of the railroad tracks back to Frontierland from Toon Town station easily. This would considerably shorten the walk to the land from this station without necessitating moving it and all the equipment that would go with it nor having to rework the rules for stopping, etc.

As to having the train stop in Tomorrowland breaking theme, it most certainly does not break theme. The station's theme matches the surrounding land in style and color. Having a train go through works as it is completely possible and believable that in the future they would have at the very least a recreation of a steam train as a museum piece of sorts for people of the future to experience.

Or you could look on it as being the boundary of the park and existing outside of the theme's of the various lands, being the vehicle that takes you on the journey to the various realms of fantasy. Either way, it fits and I see zero reason to remove the Tomorrowland station.
