  • [Question] Is Cars Racers going to be closed if it rains?

Hey guys Im heading the parks right now but wanted to ask if Racers will be closed because the last two times Ive gone and its rained and the Cars Racers have been closed both times....so I'm guessing even a light rain will shut down the attraction today too? If anyone gets to DCA when it opens could they post of its opens...Thanks
    Happy Halloween!!!

I would venture to say yes, given it's track record.

From what I understand they do shut down RSR in rainy conditions.
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

The Mousewait app is fantastic for knowing wait times, if rides are open and FP return times.

I find it amusing that an attraction based on automobiles can't handle rain ;P

That won't bode well if we have an El Nino year!

I work and live in Anaheim, it's been pretty off and on all day with light rain turning into heavy at times. I wonder how they gauge that.

Not just heavy rain. I went a few weeks ago and they shut it down during a light drizzle at 11 am. It was light enough that some people didn't need umbrellas. RSR never re-opened the entire operating day, even long after the rain had stopped.

And I've been it when it was drizzling from when I was in the queue until I got off. Likewise I've been on Test Track many times whe it was rainy and it kept running.

There must be some grading system for how much precpitation and the duration of it, to decided if the atttraction needs to be shut down. Lightning at Test Track shuts it down.

All depends on whether there's any sort of safety linkage to the track slot at the rear of the cars, so the rear axle can lose traction without an imminent disaster. I haven't really studied the issue, anyone have the Patent Numbers handy?...

Anyone who ever played with Slot Cars as a kid knows the basic problems with the guide pin and power pickup brushes at the front of the car and the drive wheels at the rear of the car - Just scale up those cars enough to put 6 people on board, and put the power rails and data pickups UNDER the track hidden in the slot.

Track gets too wet and the car spins out and is suddenly trying to go down the track backwards. I don't even know if the linkage would allow it to go around that far.

Or the tail end wipes out via Gravity if you come to an unexpected stop on a steeply banked curve, and the uphill car gets tagged by the car coming along in the downhill lane...
