  • [Question] Any early closings this past week?

Did either - or both - DL or CA have to close the turnstiles early this week due to large crowds?

Any predictions about whether or not the gates will close early on New Years Eve?

Yesterday, Thursday it was reported in another thread the ticket sales stopped around noon and only readmission was allowed in the early afternoon. This means you could hop or come back in with a handstamp, but not an unused ticket. Because this report missed some details of normal procedures it is hard to say what really happened.

A friend told me they stopped letting AP holders in mid afternoon unless they had previously been in the park, and only DL had this restriction. DCA was always open as long as you had a ticket. No idea if the gate restrictions were lifted.

    Not sure how today went.

I had no idea they could stop AP holders like that - I understand if they're stopping everyone but to only restrict AP holders? Wow.

At some point nobody can get in, the park can only hold so many guests. A full glass doesn't fit milk any easier than scotch.

When a park is closing in on capacity measures are taken to slow the inflow of guests.

        Stop selling tickets.
Stop letting regular ticket holders in who have not yet used thier tickets during the day in.
        Stop letting APs in.
        Stop letting hotel guests in.
Stop allowed reentry, these are guest who were in the parks but went out.
Stop letting guests with dining reservations.

If guests leave the resrictions can be lifts in reverse order.

Actually, they stopped allowing all new admissions, whether they were regular tickets or APs. You could only enter the park if you had previously been in the park. The line was slowed by the fact they only were using 2 gates to allow people in and they had "pre screeners" who had hand scanners who would check your ticket to see if it had previously been used.

There are five levels to entry.

Level 1, everyone can get in.
Level 2, they stop selling 1 day tickets and block out tickets.
Level 3, they stop selling all tickets, except annual passes.
Level 4, only readmission allowed. If you have not been in the park, you cannot enter.
Level 5, the park is closed by the fire marshal. It does not matter if you have dining reservations, with the exception of Club 33. If you have club dining, you will be escorted to the club for your meal, then escorted back out. If you have Blue Bayou reservations, you have to be in the park, they will not escort you.

If you are a hotel guest who has not entered the park prior to the readmission level, you won't get in, the same as if you stayed across the street. Same with annual passholders and other dining.
