  • [Question] Construction Walls! Are they all gone?

My last visit to Disneyland, was in May of 2012. I had a really great time. However, I must admit that construction walls started to become a bit of a thorn in my side.

I haven't been paying 100% attention, I must admit. So I must ask. How many construction walls will I see during my trip, which is just a few short weeks away.

The walls are gone in DCA seeing that the Buena Vista Street and Cars Land expansions are done. When I was at Disneyland in October the only walls up for construction were around the Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland, on Main Street around the new Town Hall, the Storybook Canal Boats, and Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones is completed now as is the Storybook boats but they are starting the refurb on Thunder Mountain Railroad so that will be blocked off.
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

As mentioned above, the walkway connecting Frontierland and Fantasyland wrapping around Big Thunder is closed off for the refurb (hopefully not the whole time).

In additions, walls are up around the Main St. train station, the former Plaza Gardens and the Mercantile shop just past the Frontierland entrance. And while not "walled" per se, Mansion is closed until the holiday overlay is removed.

bit. BTMRR will have a lot I suspect, and possibly scaffholding all over it, and a crane to remove and install track. Remember the trail around BTMRR will be closed during the week.

Honestly there will be a lot of other stuff. That's what happens in off season. Just walls hear there and all over.

Right usely around the off season you will fine walls all over Disneyland and DCA. Some will come down before summer begins but Big Thunder will be wall off for 10 months.

My vacation is about two weeks away. The Disneyland website shows that Haunted Mansion should be back operating by then. BTMRR will be down, but they show Big Thunder Ranch is featuring Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. I need to get my Disneyland map out so that I can familiarize myself where everything is exactly. I don't go back that way very often since I don't ride BTMRR. However, I do look forward to seeing Billy Hill in their new location.

I love taking pictures of the Main Street Train station, I guess that's out for this trip. The Last Anniversary that I was at, the Firehouse was surrounded by walls. I missed taking pictures of that. Especially Walt's window.

That's correct. The passage is closed off between the Fantasyland restrooms next to Village Haus, and the BTR entrance. Like i said weekdays only.

The station may have some tarps around it. The Firehouse, and that section of buildings was repainted in the Fall so no problem there.

There are pluses and minuses for traveling this time of the year. I have always wished that MiceChat had their anniversary festivities in a different time of the year. I am talking partially weather here, but mostly hours, and entertainment options during the week days.

You will only see some around Big Thunder, the new Fantasy Faire, and thats all.

Re: Construction Walls! Are they all gone?

When I first heard about Fantasy Faire, I didn't think it was going to be as elaborate as the recently posted photos are showing.

When is that expected to be completed? I rely on my fellow MiceChatters, when my memory fails me about dates

Disney is officially planning to open this summer. Maybe late May, or in June.

Same goes for the Magic Map show in the Fantasyland Theatre.

Re: Construction Walls! Are they all gone?

Nothing will be as inconvenient or detour elaborate as the DCA construction was, so I wouldn't worry. When I want back to DCA after the walls were taken down I didn't know how to navigate the park because I had gotten used to the construction detours.

There are quite a few closures while you are there:
                          01/07/13 - 02/14/13 - Fantasmic!
                          01/07/13 - 03/28/13 - Mark Twain Riverboat
                          01/07/13 - 03/28/13 - Main Street Train Station
                          01/07/13 - 10/30/13 - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
                          01/14/13 - 01/17/13 - Big Thunder Trail
                          01/21/13 - 01/24/13 - Big Thunder Trail
                          01/22/13 - 01/23/13 - Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
                          01/22/13 - 02/14/13 - Splash Mountain
                          01/22/13 - 02/28/13 - It's a Small World
                          01/28/13 - 01/31/13 - Big Thunder Trail
                          01/28/13 - 02/08/13 - Cafe Orleans
                          01/28/13 - 02/14/13 - Mad Tea Party
                          01/07/13 - 02/28/13 - Grizzly River Run
                          01/28/13 - 02/14/13 - Muppet Vision 3D
                          01/28/13 - 01/31/13 - World of Color

There may be walls around other closed attractions other than BTMRR and PFF. I don't think you will deal with a lot of detours though...with the exception of the BTM Trail.

Thanks for the list. I was aware of most of these.
