  • [Fun] Rank Your Favorite Disneyland, Classic-Style Boat Rides

    Let's rank the boat rides.

    Contestants:

    "it's a small world"
    Pirates of the Caribbean
    Jungle Cruise
    Storybook Land Canal Boats

    My order:

Pirates of the Caribbean: Need I say more?

Storybook Land Canal Boats: This ride never gets old. It's cute, it's charming and it's a classic. The music is beautiful and I love the miniatures.

Jungle Cruise: Love this ride. I remember riding it as a kid. Sometimes the jokes can get a little old, and it's very creepy for me to ride this at night! Still, it's a great ride.

"it's a small world": The facade is so beautiful and the overall attraction truly is a gem, but I've ranked this last on my list because the song has a knack for getting stuck in my head for days, which can be annoying. I love spotting the Disney characters, though, which I don't have a problem with, by the way.

    1) Pirates: arguably the pinnacle of Disney Imagineering. A fully realize attraction without a single detail wasted or out of place. A masterpiece.

    2) Jungle Cruise with a caveat for bad skippers. The skippers are really what make or break this attraction. A funny and enthusiastic skipper can make this one of the best rides in the park while an unenthused skipper can make it a drag.

    3) It's a Small World. This is one that receives a lot of contempt (whether it's genuine or joking) but I think it's an incredibly charming attraction with some really gorgeous design work based around the style of Mary Blair. Even the song, even though it can get annoying after a time, is sort of a masterpiece in and of itself.

    4) Storybook Land. Again, the skipper (or whatever you call the SBLCB equivalent) can make or break this, but regardless the miniatures are really neat.

      1) pirates. it's classic disney, and i love anything to do with pirates and skeletons (wow that makes me sound super creepy! lol)
      2) jungle cruise. i love the corniness of the skippers. it's just so lame and hilarious.
      3) storybook land. i haven't been on since i was a child, but it's just so well done (i imagine it still is, if not better now).
      4) it's a small world. i know it's a beloved attraction (and was actually dd's fave ride when i took her in sept) but i find it so drawn out and that song on repeat gets annoying.

Pirates - Probably my favourite ride in all of Disney in ANY park. Everything about that ride is beloved. I have loved it since the first time I rode it. The attention to detail is better than anything I have ever seen at a theme park.

Small World - You know, I don't care if this song gets stuck in my head. I hum it to myself often. I load up a Youtube video that has this music. It represents so much that is Disney.

Storybook Canal Boats - I guess because they don't have this at Disney World that it seemed rather unique to me at Disneyland. I like the simplicity of it.

Jungle Cruise - Still a nice ride. I have never had a bad skipper before.

How come Splash Mountain doesn't get a spot on the list?

1 Pirates. The best ride hands down for me becuase of the memories from childhood. And there is something about the smell of the water in that ride, it gets me everytime. It transports me to my childhood.
            2. Jungle cruise also because of my childhood memories. I love it at night.
            3. Small world. This ride meant nothing to me until i took my kids. The look of amazment on my 7 year olds face was something ill never forget. And the water has that majical smell also...
            4. Storybook canal -Never even noticed this ride until i went with my kids. Love it and at night it is extra special.

1 Pirates: i think all the main points have been hit on this one, but it's a thrilling ride with beautiful details and all together just holds a special place in my family's heart. plus, new orleans square is my favorite land, so the wait in that queue is the best out of the four for me.
                2. Jungle cruise: something about the corniness of the whole thing just amuses me. plus, the maps are a really cool touch. it's a classic in my book, and a ride i never miss.
                3. Small World: i can only handle so much of it's a small world, and it's because of the song and length of it. but, it is beautifully done and my grandma loves it, so it's always worth it to get her to smile.
                4. Storybook Canal: the details are beautiful, but overall it's a little dull for me.

"oh, i just love happy endings!"

I was contemplating putting Splash down on the list, but I decided not to because it's a log flume ride. I decided to just stick with the classic, boat-type rides, the leisure ones.

                    1. POTC
                    2. Jungle
                    3. Small World
                    5. Nemo (a sub is a boat.)
                    4. Motorboat Cruise (I honestly miss these.)
                    5. Storybook

I love each of them, even if I did rank them.

Pirates of the Caribbean: No real explanation is necessary. Pirates is hands down the best boat ride in the park.

Jungle Cruise: I have always loved the Jungle Cruise. It's a good chance to hear some cheesy jokes, take some time to relax, and see some "animals." And the backside of water, of course.

Storybook Land Canal Boats: I have only been on this ride once, but I enjoyed it. It's another relaxing boat ride with some fun miniatures.

It's a Small World: I wouldn't even put this on my personal list. It's a classic and all, but I really hate this ride.
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

                          5.Small World
Little and broken, but still good.

                            1. Pirates is without a doubt the best of these attractions and quite possibly the best attraction in the whole resort
                            2. Small World: a combination of the great facade we have in Disneyland and the charm of the attraction makes this number two
                            3. Jungle Cruise: Another great attraction the kitsch is perfect for an attraction that loves to not take itself too seriously
                            4. Story Book Canal: This attraction has some great charm but is definitely not as exciting as the other three. Basically a nice ride to do once in awhile
