  • [Question] The best and worst queues

What are the queues that are filled to the brim with detail that you admire and what are the most boring queues that you can't stand in Disneyland and California Adventure?

I love the queues for Indy and Tower of Terror, but dislike the queues for Nemo and Screamin'.

Best: Indiana Jones Adventure Worst: Space Mountain (because of the outside part)

I'm going to agree with frollofan as far as Indiana Jones, but the most boring and horrible queue to me is Autopia. Not because of theming (it is rather appropirate), but because it takes up too much space. It's an eyesore of epic proportion.

Id concur with Indiana Jones. I think Roger Rabbit might be in the running for the best, as far as theming and detail go.

I agree that the outside portion is horrendous, but I truly love the indoor portion of Space Mountain's queue. Is it anything extravagant? Not really, but I find it to be one of the most effective at immersing me into its story. Walking through those dimly lit halls, I feel like I'm in a space station thousands of miles above Earth, about to embark on a journey through the icy, star-laced darkness of space. I think this compensates for the outdoor portion--although I just try to ride early in the morning or with the use of a fastpass to skip the outdoor portion entirely.

I should point out my disappointment with Space Mountain's queue, as a matter of history.

You used to be able to see glancing views of the ride, and that's gone. The ride itself is partially ruined by the lack of good themed lighting. There used to be a sun, of all things!

But, that's the ride. The annoying and anger-inducing queue is still Autopia.

My favorite queues are : Indy, Roger Rabbit and Tower of Terror

Worst: err not sure.....I guess Space Mountain's because I miss the old queue to that one.
Little and broken, but still good.

                Best:
                Indiana Jones
                Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
                Star Tours
                Radiator Springs Racers
                Toy Story Mania
                Jungle Cruise
Mike & Sully to the Rescue (the inside part)

                Worst:
                Space Mountain
Just about every ride in Fantasyland
Pirates of the Caribbean (face it, there really isn't anything to look at)
                Finding Nemo Submarines
                Matterhorn Bobsleds
                Autopia
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

                  The best queues:
Ones that have fine details, dynamic things, and nice views. Such as a talking Buzz, view over the land or at the or other attractions, and intricate designs queues. Like the Jungle Cruise which has all of these things.

                  The worst queus:
Long waits where you pretty much only see people around you. Screamin is one that comes to mind, concrete and railings for 20-45 minutes strait until you get to the loading area.

Okay so for best Indiana Jones is hands down the best in Disneyland, but some other good ones are roger rabbit and tower of terror like other have mentioned. But for worst the hands most unbearable queue is Peter Pan and I can't believe no one else mentioned. I cannot stand waiting in that line!

I would put Alice in Wonderland as one of my favorite queues, there is a lot to look at and I always get good photos. Indy may be detailed but it goes on FOREVER!

Worst: I haven't been in the Nemo queue (an amazing CM that worked in the Disney Gallery/Indy last Feb Dapper Day gave us free ride passes because we had such a great chat. btw, if anyone knows the girl I'm speaking about, tell her she has 4 life-long fans) but it always looks SO LONG and so boring. Loading and unloading of the subs is so tedious all you do is wait with very little to distract you.

I agree completely. For this reason, for instance, the Canoes is one of my favorite queues. I love soaking in all that rustic loveliness. Indy, Jungle Cruise and Big Thunder are also favorites of mine for bringing me into the story before the ride.
I don't know if this counts as an actual queue, since it's more of a waiting area, but Tiki Room's waiting area is a wonderful, imersive, restful oasis from the action and hubub of the rest of the park.

I think Roger Rabit's is better than Indy's. It not only immerses me in the ride, but you get entertained by taking funny pictures all through the queue!

Worst- anything that has a long outdoor line portion... when you say the worst, I think of queues that make my grumpy by time I get on a ride. Because it's so long and boring and hot! I think the worst for me is TSMM! I love Mr.potato head... but that's the only part of the line that's entertaining.... the rest is chains..... ugh. the 2nd worst is space without a fast pass.

Best queues (in no particular order):
-The Enchanted Tiki Room (if you can count the pre-show as a queue)
                              -The Jungle Cruise
                              -Indiana Jones Adventure
                              -The Haunted Mansion
                              -Big Thunder Mountain
                              -Roger Rabbit's Car-toon Spin
                              -Space Mountain (once inside)
                              -Star Tours
-Muppet*Vision 3D (again, if pre-show waiting area counts)
                              -Tower of Terror
-It's Tough to Be a Bug
                              -Luigi's Flying Tires
                              -Radiator Springs Racers

                              Worst (again, no particular order):
                              -Matterhorn
                              -Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
-Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sully to the Rescue
                              -Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular
                              -California Screamin'
-Toy Story Midway Mania (it wouldn't be as bad if there was some shade in the queue, always a long line and no shade)
