  • [Chat] What show should replace Aladdin

Since Aladdin will soon be going to broadway, what film would you like to see replace it?

I'd like to see one of these...
    Bambi
The Jungle Book (could use costumes inspired by Indian art similar to the lion king play)
Mulan (amazing sets could be made for this)
    Fantasia
Nightmare before Christmas (really cool sets could be used for this also)
Brave (a mordu scene would be really cool)
    Frankenweenie
    Various fab five shorts
    Legend of sleepy hollow

What would you like to see?

How about a clone of Animal Kingdom show, Finding Nemo: The Musical. The Show will replace Aladdin at Disney California Adventure. I think, the facade will retheme into a 1920's theatre, to fit in a 1920's Hollywood area.

A 40-minute version of Julie Taymor's "The Lion King."

Then after that ten-year run, "Mary Poppins."

I heard so many great things about this one, but when we were there in 2009 I was really rather disappointed by it. Maybe it was just an off day, but I wasn't a fan.

As much as I love Aladdin and would hate to see it go, I know it can't keep playing forever. I don't really care what Disney does next as long as it's done with the same craft and the same storytelling excellence that Aladdin has. I'd also prefer if it were a musical based on a film that already has musical numbers, rather than making up forgettable songs based on lines of dialogue from the film *cough* Nemo *cough*.

Since Mary Poppins is closing in New York, why not ship the sets to California, cut the show down to 45 minutes, and remodel the theatre with an actual lobby, a covered queue, and a new facade. It's a classic Disney property which deserves the representation in the park. It beats a Pixar musical. If not Mary Poppins, I'd be fine with Beauty and the Beast or even Tangled.

"Tangled" gets my vote. I think it could be edited down to a great stage show and still have enough special effects to keep it magical. I saw the touring show of "Mary Poppins" and loved the Step In Time segment - but it's not my favorite Disney story.

I would love to see stage shows based on Nightmare Before Christmas or Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I'd vote for more of a "review" type show, spotlighting music from lots of years of Disney movies. But not like Steps in Time. This time they should do it well.

Mary Poppins or The little Mermaid. Both have been on Broadway, but have rabid fan bases and both are still reliant. I'd prefer the former though.
I open a toy, review it and take mediocore pictures. Read all about it HERE!

I would like to see The Lion King. A Mulan show would be very cool, too.

I doubt The Lion King will happen because the show is still touring and in New York. Mary Poppins's tour has hit all of the major cities and is working its way down. It will probably close in 2 years. Lion King is coming to Los Angeles this fall, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

One word. Newsies. Won't happen, though, since it'll tour after it closes on Bway.
