As I recall from MiceChat threads a few years ago that cited weather-history sources which I can't find at the moment, it was only in the 80s in Los Angeles on opening day. The "merciless heat wave on Disneyland's opening day," claiming temperatures of 100 to 110 degrees, is an urban myth that has been repeated endlessly in print and online.
At first I didn't think that this could be the first week Disneyland was open because the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship didn't open until Aug. 29, but upon closer inspection of the ship I saw all the scaffolding so opening week is very viable. Great picture, thanks for sharing.
