Hello friends, you really have to see this 2 minute beautiful video from Chris Z. Which he made about his family trip to Disneyland in 1990. It is so moving, so touching, so beautiful. Disneyland 1990 on Vimeo
"Why would I want it to change? I mean look at it, it's perfect."
Peter Pan: "You know, your hair is on fire."
Me: "Yes. It happened after a recent trip to Neverland."
Peter Pan: "Well, you can dunk your head in the pond behind us, if you want."

We say it is perfect with the benefit of hindsight, yes. In 22 years, the five and six year olds of today will look back at the Disneyland of today and . . . . . I don't know. We will wait and see.
I agree, I think that video hit me so hard because that was MY Disneyland too. Watching that video brought back all those memories of me as a kid just enjoying Disneyland, to us the 90's Disneyland was flawless. Absolute perfection. We had such a wide-eyed perspective. It was an amazing time, families were finally able to afford video recorders and the internet wasn't around to over-saturate your desires to see Disneyland. There was just a sense of awe and amazement back then. Truely was magical.
But at the same time, how much of that is due to the fact that I was 9 in the year 1990? Before I had to worry about the cost of a ticket, where all I had to do was bring my imagination and energy. I wonder if kids today see DLR the same way I seen it back then. A lot has changed since then...not just with Disneyland but with society in general but I wonder if kids still run into Disneyland amazed and awed. I know my daughter has a blast but sometimes I wonder "If she likes this Disneyland she would have loved MY Disneyland..."
That video though....I wanted more. I miss that Disneyland...
"If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that"
1990 was also a sweet spot for me in terms of going to Disneyland. I was 10, and still caught up in the magic and imagination Disneyland offered for kids at my age. I didn't have to worry about how much it would cost to pay for parking, admission, food. All I had to do was enjoy it.
Now as an adult I still enjoy Disneyland, but I when I go it always brings back that time when I was 10.

That's a cool video. I always remember older visits when I visit the parks. I don't think the parks are better or worse than I remember them. To me every visit to DL is special. That holds true with me today.
Born in 1989 so the 90s was my childhood Disneyland. Seeing the tram going through the parking lot reminded me of that "first and last ride of the day" feeling from before California Adventure and the parking structure were built.
