  • [Pictures] Disneyland pictures from 1960

Here's some of a bundle of pictures I dug up while cleaning. Hope you enjoy this trip back in time.

    Mom and Grandma

Grandma in front of the new submarines

    Wild looking buckets!

Storybook land canal boats from the skyway

Tom Sawyer's island, before any fools thought to put pirates out there...

    And finally, my favorite

Hope you enjoyed this little blast from the past.

Wow those are great! I agree the last one of the monorail brings back a LOT of memories. Thanks for taking the time to post these.

Tom Sawyer's Island looks significantly better with the wild plants growing there.

I wish people still dressed nice to go places.

Wow Tom Sawyer's Island looked so natural back then. Old Frontierland had such a rugged wilderness look to it.

Also is it just me or are the most interesting vintage Disneyland pics the ones of things that haven't changed much because it causes the old fashioned clothing to be more noticeable? It's like there's the Main Street station and the Mickey floral, but the people standing in front of them in the picture are in 60s clothing.

That shot of the mill on Tom Sawyer's Island brings up another reason why I'm resentful of Fantasmic!

I agree. It was , of course, a very different time. People dressed up for a day's outing, travel, or work.
And the Island had a lot more of a wild look to it, giving it more charm and "set dressing". So much character and authenticity is lost sometimes in the name of "progress", miss the old look sometimes.

Not only is the monorail smaller/shorter than today's attraction, but you notice the track makes a hard left out of the station and circles around Fantasyland. No hotel spur as of yet, it was only about a year old in this picture, as was I, Ha!
