Cast Member Costumes In Thrift Store

I love going to thrift stores, and sometimes you find awesome stuff, so i was looking over a few things in a local Anaheim thrift store and there before my eyes were over 9 diffrent resort costumes :lol: Oh yeah Disney is going a real good job with costume security

A few of my friends with me bought the stuff because they work at the park and can use it as personal cast clothing they dont have to return because its most likely missing.

So the moral of the story is, if you love disney look at your local thrift store you might find a peice of it. :lol:

Though I'd be WAY to nervous to wear it anywhere. I once saw a guy wearing a black Disneyland Cast Member jacket at a local Target. I couldn't believe it. It was off-putting seeing that level of disrespect for Disneyland. If I had a piece of costuming from Disneyland it would be on display and not for wearing.

Some things are simple to find... Like the Pee Coats that some of the CM's wear can be found at almost any Army-Navy store... Like on Pirates or the Columbia... Those things are EASY to find...

Well, I know that before they started scanning everything you check out, it was very easy to ac***ulate LOTS of costume pieces and basically not return them (hence the reason everything in barcoded now) so I can see how that would happen, especially someone who doesn't work there anymore wanting to clean out his closet.

I know quite a few CMs (including myself) who left the park with substantial parts of their costumes still sitting in their closets- I personally will never get rid of mine.

Although my stupid brother stole one of my hats and wore it to the park one day and they took it away from him.

I still have a few things from my stint at DL. A couple shirts, and a blue DL night crew jacket...

A am a bit distressed that all you former and current CMs don't see it as wrong to take costumes from your employer. While I can understand a stick to the man attitude, especially before Presser and Harris left, stealing is stealing. You who have taken things have broken the law and are a criminals. Remember the real golden rule, "do to other as you would have them do to you."


My advice: give it back.

Well, they barcode everything now so you have to give it back as a way of keeping track of it all. In my defense, the costume Pieces I have were phased out when they changed the DL resort logo and a few other things were not expected to be returned. Don't judge until you walk a mile in a CM's shoes (they wouldn't want them back anyways)

Not expected to be turned is cool by me. Just I hate it when I see umteen threads about how poor guest treat CMs and then I find out that a good portion have be mistreating their employer.

I'd say in most cases (including my own), stealing was never intended. Costumes change, and sometime people have to leave (or they get laid off) suddenly, and a shirt or jacket in a closet somewhere isn't our first thought. Now if you had 5 complete sets, then you'd have a problem. But for the most part, it's like working at a fast food place. When you quit, do you rush home to get your old Del Taco t-shirts and bring them back to the manager? Of course not. It's just not the first thing you think about.

I think the real moral of the story would be to return the stolen items to the Resort. That's just me though.

OK here is thie thing, what I posted about was buying cast clothing out right from a thrift store, I have never stolen costumes from the park, and I am not even saying I bought them right out. Those cast members that take clothing I look down on because yes it is stealing.

But what most dont know is the cast is made up of alot of society's s*** bags, not everyone some......

and for an example I will list three cast members that I knew at the park:

A) thought he was a vampire and could only do shifts at night
B) Thought any of the costumed characters (pooh tigger ect) were a turn on
C) Did Porn as well as sold it on the side

Again not all of the cast is bad, most of it is awesome, just some are a bit questionable, lol they are just good actors that got past the screening process.
