  • [Question] Instead of shutting Muppets Theater adventure all the time...

Why dont they use the Magic Eye Theater (Captain EO) for movie screenings and previews...

It is kinda future themed - movies not out yet, lol. I enjoy the Muppets as is. Maybe some plussing, but I do like it.

How about replacing Captain EO with a new show themed to Tron or something. I don't like the idea of watching movie previews while at Disneyland or California Adventure.

Exactly. If they must show previews, strike a deal with the AMC theater that is located on their property. Don't shut down a theme park attraction for this crap.

It is easier to section off the part of DCA involved with a screening at Muppet Theater than it would be to section off the part of Disneyland involved with a screening at Magic Eye. Look at a map. To get to ME would take a trip all the way up Main Street, right at the circle, around AstroOrbiters, and halfway into Tomorrowland. It would be a nightmare to get non-premiere traffic around in the park if they had the events at ME. In contrast, the affected part of DCA is much smaller.

This is not so much about movie premieres, but rather movie previews that take over an attraction for an extended period of time solely to advertise for the upcoming movie. The Rivers of America would be a place likely to hold a premiere.

Previews, for real? This idea must be some kind of late April Fools joke. How in the world are they going to be able to look into the plastic, moon-like eyeballs of those furry Muppets and tell them it's over? The penguins have been practicing for years, those old dudes, classic. If you are interested in movie trailers, go to IMDB.
Ah, how strange! The molecules are so active now!

Haha, seems like most people in this thread aren't understanding the OP. He/She means that instead of showing movie previews in the Muppet Theater (which regularly happens and takes the Muppet 3D attraction down while the previews are showing), holding the premieres in the Magic Eye theater where Captain EO is shown.

Personally I would prefer this, I'd rather watch the Muppets instead of EO. Saying that I'd also rather watch EO instead of a movie preview unless it was some film I was really really interested in but I can't say that there are many that I am so interested in I'd spend my time at the parks watching them.

There's also an excellent option just down the street.

Why not run previews (at least for the animated stuff) in the Art of Animation building lobby?

I don't mean replace the current beautiful stills and animated snippets, more an "every fifteen minutes" kind of deal. With animated films, it'd even help sell the concept that this is more than a place where animation is frozen in amber for your viewing pleasure.

My guess is they do this because EO actually gets a lot more guests then the Muppets.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

I'm guessing they want to do the sneaks peaks in DCA cause of the whole Hollywood theming and all. Still doesn't make it right to have to shut down an attraction just to do it. Don't they have two empty stage buildings in that area? Why not put them to temporary use?

As far as Captain EO, I know it's closing is inevitable but I'm thinking maybe they could come up with a way to do Captain EO showings in the evenings or something for the adults and the new 3D show during the rest of the day.

It boggles the mind how TDA lacks the logic that you possess. This is truly a no-brainer.

I am sick of the movie previews too. However, it might be cool if next Spring they actually previewed Muppets Most Wanted in the Muppet Theater. They could even program Statler and Waldorf to mock it!

Then again, watch them preview every Disney movie except Muppets in that theater... lol.

Muppets Screen is Larger, Muppets theater is larger. The EO screen has a horrible crop on the corners and many of the projection sound systems are vastly outdated (but not too outdated) compared to muppets.

THIS was my intention - I dont like the previews in the parks either really - But I enjoy watching the the Muppets more than EO.
