Does this mean the entire ride is closed.

I asked a Matterhorn CM about this back in June, and the answer was no, they do regular (annual?) maintenance on the ride, and there would be no changes to the ride vehicles.

I can imagine the park gets a lot of complaints about this, but for the amount of money they spent on the refurb and how long the ride was closed in 2012, it would be very surprising for them to change the ride vehicles again so quickly. It would be admitting that they made a blatant mistake that required a large amount of money to fix.

Sorry, I know that doesn't make it any easier to ride...

This was answered in the post right above yours. Regular maintenance is needed annually on all rides. This is maintenance, not a refurb.

It's okay. I take an airplane/travel neck pillow with me now and sit on that to make the ride less painful to my backside.

Just the bottom half. Disney has rented a bunch of folding ladders from Home Depot to allow people to climb halfway up the mountain and board the sleds. Once the ride is over, riders will disembark and walk down the closed section of track to the exit.

Is this when Disney makes the seats conformable...seems simple compared to making a Mountain....of Cars talking...or a show of lights and water

We had a CM last night tell us that at some point they would be doing something about the sleds but it wouldn't be for a while. He even said how uncomfortable they are and when he sits his knees are in his chest. I'm short so for me its not that but the hard seat and then getting out is a big pain now because of how you sit. So not sure how true it is on that info but it would be nice if something was done. I told him the seats need some sort of cushion in it instead of being so hard.

I still have no idea why they just couldnt install a bit of padding? Its really odd, it took, what, a year to refurb the ride with tons of tests. Did anyone bother to just sit in the thing and see how it feels before opening it to the public?
