  • [Question] Character poses?

I've lately seen some beautiful pictures of the Disneyland princesses and face characters posing with great faces, or making heart shapes with their hands. Will they pose for pictures if I ask them to, without me necessarily being in them? How do I ask them, do characters have a signature pose, etc?

Captain Hook will know about it! I would say, "YES." All you have to do is ask them. They wil be happily obliged,

Any character will do a single shot for you. It's nothing out of the ordinary.

Heck, on more than one occasion I had people ask to take a picture of me holding a churro or box of popcorn for their friends. ANY cast member should do that, including the characters.

FYI: Ariel will not put on thick black glasses and become "Hipster Mermaid"
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

That seems like an odd request, but I wish I had done it. I have had so many awesome experiences with Cast Members, it's a shame I haven't gotten their pictures.

The Characters are real professionals. They are great at any reasonable request.

Here I asked Snow White to duplicate her statue pose at the Wishing Well.

On a rainy day, I asked Alice to pose like her attraction poster, since she was sitting right by it:

                    Here are some others:

                    Mary Poppins at the castle.

I asked Sleeping Beauty to show me her castle.

This little Fireside Girl asked them to pose like her... (Not the other way around)

Here I asked Belle and the Beast to pretend to read a book.... (I do not think it worked as well as I hoped.)

The Mad hatter and Lily making funny faces..

Sometimes it comes out great, not always, but ask.

This was at WDW, but last year I got a bunch of characters to do Fernando Rodney (pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays) "Shoot the Moon" pose (what he does when he gets a save). Every single character I asked obliged and it was a pretty epic day as I got 9 characters to do the pose.

I thought so too, and this was pre- facebook / instagram, etc. so they weren't posting the photos anywhere. The weirdest one was a Japanese couple who stopped me right as I was walking onstage from the Inn Between. They didn't speak English very well, but the husband took a picture of me standing with his wife in front of the Corn Dog truck. I just chalked it up to a cultural thing that I didn't get. The other ones I could understand a little bit, especially since there were a lot of people who didn't know what a churro was and maybe wanted to show their friends. I figure I'm probably in a couple hundred family photo albums around the world.

Just remember, a request is just that- a request. If the character doesn't oblige, they may have received direction not to do it (Tebowing, planking, "gang like" symbols, etc) or they just may not feel comfortable doing it. If they say no, don't press the subject, just take a different picture and move on, or ask if they have any suggestions.
