  • [Fun] Shadow fighters in Pirates bombardment scene

I assume this was added in the 90s after Disneyland Paris version opened with a similar effect? How do we feel about it? It doesn't really intrude on the experience like the movie changes. It's more like an unnecessary little addition that's somewhat easy to miss and somewhat difficult to see these days (not sure if that's related to maintenance). But I think it's pretty cool. That said, I have no clue what's actually occurring. Judging from the audio, it's supposed to be a swordfight. However, all I can make out whenever I've gone through is the two shadow guys sort of connecting palms and spinning around?

I dont really care for it but I dont really remember there being anything there. I think it was a matter of filling empty space. Yes I remember the shadows more defined. Im guessing its a matter of cleaning or replacing some screen or projector bulb.

I don't mind it. I think it adds a little extra movement to an otherwise stagnant scene.

Theyre actually talking in spanish! I always try to hear what they say and only get snippets of the conversation! I kinda gave up but today the audio was really loud so maybe next time ill try to figure it out!

I like it! Helps populate the scene and bring it more to life.

I like it. Just another little detail that adds so much life to the attraction.

I like it. It adds detail... yet it's one of those details you may not pick up on the first time. I love soaking up the scenes and looking beyond what they want me to see. All the doors, windows, alleys, especially high up or way behind the action. You notice lots of great things. That's what makes POTC and Disneyland so great.

I wasn't working when we went during the first week of August. I hope it's only a temporary glitch, because it's one of the details that enhances the enjoyment.

Hey, at least it isn't another pointless shout out to Captain Jack Sparrow.

I always like the scene, myself.

I wonder what other small projections they could add in that don't seem completely unnecessary but just add those little touches.

I know in some areas of the burning city scene, there are some forced perspective alleyways. Wouldn't mind seeing the shadows of some pirates running up and down them at some point.

I dig it. If anything it enhances the attraction by adding more life into the scene.

The shadow swordfight, along with the shadow pianist in the Haunted Mansion attic are two of my favorite effects in the park. Easy to miss, but great little details.

They're acting out a scene from "The Matrix".
