  • [Other] Splash Mountain is looking SAD lately!

I went on Splash Mountain yesterday, and once we got into the indoor animatronics scenes, I noticed that things have gotten kinda sad in there. Half of the lights seem to be out, not all of the characters are fully working (the hanging possums aren't moving, for example, and a lot of the animatronics are cross-eyed, for example). Before I could've understood that they hadn't caught up on a few things but now it's REALLY noticeable.

What's happening to the maintenance on that ride? Are the new OSHA railings going up all over the park chewing up the budget or something? Are they waiting for a post-summer rehab to fix it? What gives?

Most of the broken animatronics are elevated, meaning that a DOSH-approved scaffolding system must be installed in order for maintenance CMs to work on said animatronics. This scaffolding system cannot be installed and taken down overnight, and requires the entire attraction to go down. Especially during the busy summer season, TDA is just not willing to close such a popular attraction, so the broken AAs will remain broken until Splash can go down and CMs can safely fix them.

    ... in a nutshell.

How many critters must freeze before TDA does something about it...

The characters being cross eyed doesnt bug me that much, it actually gives me a laugh almost every time.
          What does bug me is:
          1) A row of characters don't work in the finale on the boat.
          2) The bee hive scene is too dark, you can't see the characters on the rotating boat either
          3) In the dark area, the water is off so the characters look like awkward there and the water isnt falling around them anymore.

but its my favorite ride, so it'd kill me to go to disney and not ride it, i usually ride it multiple times in a row!

I think the cross eyed frogs and birds have always been that way, no?
