  • [Question] Social Clubs

What's their deal? Main Street elite? Neverlanders? What's the point of these "clubs".

Apparently they're claiming their own "turfs" now and there was a fight in Redd Rockets pizza port over their "turf". Like an actual fist fight.

Do you think Disney takes action eventually?

    Re: Social Clubs

I've only seen the MSE at the park myself and have yet to see the Neverlanders. A fist fight over supposed "Turf?" Now that's just plain ridiculous! Being a social club is fine and all but going that far not only puts their own group to shame, but also puts a bad light on other passionate disney fans. From the few MSE members I've encountered though, they seemed nice and were sociable.

      Re: Social Clubs

There is one out of San Jose now called the hitchikers or something. At first I thought it was a cool idea but I learned that they have rules and basically "Disneyland" a certain way. I wouldn't want to be told I need to go every week to keep a status.

It's their thing and if they enjoy it, more power to them. If, as you say, it leads to conflict, then Disneyland should ban their "uniforms" from being worn in the park. Gang territories at Disneyland just seems ridiculous.

I hope that's not the case though. Maybe if any of them lurk here we can interview one or two of them for our site. I'm sure people would be intrigued by their story and purpose.

I've also seen "The Rough Housers" as well.

They are simply just clubs that go to the parks in groups and enjoy things their way. I'd take the "fight" story with a grain of salt though..

From what I've heard, these groups are exactly as explodingboy described, and I've heard of only friendly encounters. Is there anyone who can confirm the "fight" occurred and that it was based on "turf"? If so, I'm assuming security was involved, and Disney would be considering banning groups like this was wearing their gear to prevent future conflicts.

Check out @WigWagsSC on twitter. They actually refuse to name the groups involved with said incident as one is dangerous.

From what I've seen so far the Main Street elite have been very nice. Only had one weird encounter with another group I won't name.

I don't have Twitter, so I'll take your word for it. If that's true, that's scary! Disney needs to up security, or maybe involve PD, to get rid of a group that poses a potential threat to guests.

Although the idea of a "Disney gang" sounds humorous, it would be a shame if we started to see what happened in Magic Mountain over the past decade.

Again, I'm not saying this didn't happen, but anyone can type anything on Twitter. It's all hearsay really.

I reached out to the MSE. I am hoping to get an interview with a couple of them for our site. Would be nice to hear more about their group and maybe give us normal Disneylanders some insight as to who they are =)

Main Street Elite is the coolest name for a Disney-centric group ever.

I got aksed to join one of these clubs once, and I kinda considered it for a moment.
Then realized if I was alone and some dudes from Knotts or Universal rolled up on me...

I'm going to start a new one, Varrio Buena Vista St. j/k.

While I'm all for creativity, I can easily see how these Social Clubs can cause a sense of uneasiness and fear amongst some park goers whom aren't accustomed to these types of groups.
