  • News Bob Iger confirms more Star Wars for Disney parks

While discussing Star Wars: Episode VII, Bob Iger decided to elaborate on their plans for more Star Wars in the parks. It will include the domestic parks along with the international parks. It isn't set in stone just yet, but he did say that Imagineering is developing the concepts.

Please don't go overboard with Star Wars in Tomorrowland. When the interviewer said "turning Tomorrowland into Star Wars Land", my stomach began to hurt.

It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. This is probably the first solid evidence we have had of any truth from all the rumors.

No mention of a speeder bike ride or anything like that. Hopefully that never happens.

I don't want any of these Star Wars ideas happening, but it's too late. If they must create new things based on IPs, why not use multiple ones? Focusing it all on Star Wars is dumb, IMO.

Don't make Tomorrowland exclusively Star Wars. In fact, make a dedicated land in Hollywood Studios over in Florida. They need it. I know I've harped on this so many times before, but please. Please don't turn TL into Star Wars Land.

When Bob makes an announcement from atop a Speeder Bike, we'll know.

I can't watch the video from work, but did he say anything about new rides specifically? Because I've been expecting them to bring over Star Wars weekends from DHS to Tomorrowland ever since they bought Lucasfilm, so I would hope that is all he's talking about.

If they feel the need to insert Star Wars land into DL couldn't they just carve out anough room with the area from Innoventions al the way to small world for it? Then have TL and Star Wars land. Because the current TL is what 1/3 the size of the park. You would have to of course address a lot of things like Autopia, the Subs, the monorail, the innovnetions building. I am sure it would take way too long to do but I'd rather have it that way than just kill off TL

Well, at least when I think back to my childhood, Star Wars will be remembered for being Star Wars, and Disneyland will be remembered for being Disneyland. Two separate entities in my mind. (I know Star Tours opened in 87)

                        Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooo...

My version of a Disney Star Wars as Sung to the John Williams theme by the same name:

                        Oh Star Wars,
                        Nothing but Star Wars,
                        Disney bought those Star Wars,
Now the war will never end.

                        Oh Star Wars,
                        Space Mt Tie Fighter Wars,
                        More repeat value
                        than cars Land.

Yes, they'll have the Subs take us on a tour of Naboo,
And the Autopia can Landspeed over Tatooine
And hey, Darth Vader in his black and evil mask,
Can be a cool replacement for Mike and Angie.

                        --cue trumpets--

                        Oh Star Wars,
                        Those endless Star Wars,
                        Disney will never let
                        Wars come to an end.

                        Star Wars
                        Mark Hamils scar wars
                        I'd rather eat burnt s'mores
                        blah, blah, blah, blaaaaaaah...

He said they would increase star wars presence in both California and Orlando. He said imagineering was working on things. He did not mention any attractions specifically. So there is a small chance that we don't see more star wars rides. I wouldn't count on it though.

That would be just as bad as replacing Tomorrowland with Star Wars. Star Wars should have it's own land in an area that is theme appropriate, not replace an existing land.

Unless this is going to be Wookie day at the movies, or behind the scenes of how a lightsaber works, I fail to see how this fits into Hollywood Studios. The first Star Tours loosly got a pass because they made it look like you were entering into a movie set. That only stretches so far.
