  • [Review] Disneyland Custom Cakes

We just got back from a 5 day trip at DLR. We had a wonderful time celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday while we were there. I'm sure there has been a past thread that talks about the option of having your own custom cake by the Disneyland bakery, but I thought it deserved some attention.

The bakery offers a handful of standard birthday cakes to pick from. However, I wanted something different than what they offered for my daughter who is a huge fan of The Little Mermaid movie and ride. I simply stated we wanted a cake with "The Little Mermaid - Under the Sea" theme. One day later a lady from the bakery called to share with me her thoughts on what they would like to do, and wanted my input as well. So, like I mentioned, this cake was completely customized...from the color of the frosting to the seashells and decorations. It was not only made exactly how I wanted it, but it was moist and delicious. One of the best cakes I've ever had. The 6 inch cake fed 12 people perfectly. Everyone raved on it. The filling was a white chocolate mousse.

Also, we were seated on the water at the Blue Bayou. The cake was served after dinner. I love that they deliver to any table service restaurant. No hassles dealing with the cake at all. A perfect birthday dinner celebration!

Thanks for sharing that! So sweet (no pun intended). I didn't know you could do such a thing. It's great to know you had such a positive experience -- AND that the cake tasted great too (not always the case with decorative cakes).

Your daughter will remember her Little Mermaid birthday forever!

Someone asked me the cost of the cake. I thought I'd include the info on here. I know this kind of information helps when planning a celebration trip and wanting to plan extra special things.

A 6 inch cake starts at $32. Depending on how much you want to add on to the cake the price can go up to $60 or maybe even more. The shells (sea themed decorations) and frosting color were all extras putting our cake's price at $56. Also, the cost of the cake was included on our dinner check. So we paid for the cake and dinner all at once.

Wow that cake looks so great! Were the shells/etc edible? Or were they just decorative?

Yes, they were edible. Not too easy to eat though. They were pretty hard.

Thanks for the information. We will be there celebrating my twins birthday later this month and the cake seems like a good idea. Is there a number you called to order?
