  • [Question] Crowds at DCA, Sunday February 2nd 2014 (Super Bowl Sunday?)

Being a Sunday is California Adventure going to be insanely busy?

I'm worried with limited time in the park my friend and I will not have enough time to see all of the attractions that we want to see
Can't wait for December 2012 when I FINALLY get back to Disneyland Resort! My first trip in over 7 years

Typical weekend crowds. Busy but not insanely busy or anything like that.

I've heard mixed things about Super Bowl Sunday. I have heard from some to forget about it because it's one of the busiest days of the year, but I have heard from others that it's just another typical weekend.
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

Touring Plans doesn't show it being too terribly crowded this year, at least compared to last year.

My daughter was there last year on Super Bowl Sunday. She said the only place that was really crowded was the ESPN Zone.

Be in line when the gates open. That's always Rule #1 when you have a list to accomplish in a limited time. Rule #2 is "ride order strategy." Rule #3 is "FastPass/single rider lines."

I wonder why that would be, since presumably everybody who cares about the game would be watching it. Are other people supposedly flocking to the park in anticipation of it being relatively empty?

That's pretty much been my experience. I think that I intuitively expect crowds to be lighter, but they generally seem to be typical for that time of year. I recall seeing more guests wearing football jerseys than usual, but this doesn't make sense to me because if they're fans then they should be watching the game instead of running around Disneyland, I would think. That's what I get for thinking--a dangerous pastime (I know). Maybe they could only visit on that day for some reason (vacation plans and scheduling with others) or something like that, but I digress.

It used to be that Superbowl Sunday was a great day to go, since so many people would stay home to watch the game. Sadly, that isn't the case anymore, but the crowds are certainly no bigger than usual, and may even be smaller. However, it won't be empty like in years past.
