  • [Question] Is California Screamin' smooth or bumpy?

When I visit on Sunday 2nd Feb this will be my first ride on California Screamin and my first 'real' roller coaster.

I am terrified that it will be really bumpy, especially when coming down the steep hills!

Is this the case or am I deluded?
Can't wait for December 2012 when I FINALLY get back to Disneyland Resort! My first trip in over 7 years

It's the smoothest coaster I've ever been on... you'll be fine.

I found it smooth. It appears to be a wooden rollercoaster but it isn't. It's steel. Even going upside down was smooth. You'll have a blast. It is a surprisingly thrilling roller coaster.

My dad loves California Screamin'. He calls it the smoothest coaster he has ever been on.
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

Extremely, extremely smooth. The exact opposite of Knott's Ghostrider.

              Stop being greedy.

"The fact is, squire, the moment a man takes to a pipe, he becomes a philosopher. It's the poor man's friend; it calms the mind, soothes the temper, and makes a man patient under difficulties. It has made more good men, good husbands, kind masters, indulgent fathers, than any other blessed thing on this universal earth."

... the Ghostrider was a thrilling coaster, but I felt like it was going to knock the wind out of me! A bit too rough for these old bones.

it's pretty much the opposite of any wooden coaster.

Wooden roller coasters are usually the bumpy ones. BTMR is bumpy unlike California Screamin'. Screamin' is a steel coaster, though its meant to look like a wooden one. Its so fun! I hope you enjoy your first big coaster. Have fun!

Yep, one of my favorite aspects of Screamin' is that the cars dash through the air like a knife cuts through butter.

I find the front to be the smoothest, the back rougher, but it doesn't even come close to Ghostrider! I went on that this year after several years since my last ride and I doubt I will ever ride it again! Way worse than the new Matterhorn sleds, by 100x!
