  • [Chat] Indiana Jones - Left or Right

When you get near the stairs that split the line in two, which do you choose? Left or Right? And why?

I normally choose the left solely for the reason it seems to move faster.
"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

    Left because it is shorter.

I have always found the left to move a bit faster, too.

Agreed... left seems to move faster. Not sure why.

I've seen the left side, lined-up to the bottom of the stairs, and nothing in the right side, so I went to the right, up the stairs, and turned left. Within a few minutes, the people that were at the bottom of the stairs were walking past me, and got on the ride way ahead of me!

As Americans, we tend to gravitate more toward the right. It's the whole driving and walking on the right side thing. If you break the mold a bit you tend to find less people.

I have noticed the same thing with BTMRR when both staircases are utilized.

left because it's a smaller footprint so I figure it's technically shorter.

Always left! Glad I'm not the only one who has taken this thought into consideration!

I feel like for Disneyland, the rule is "Right is right, except for Adventureland where it's wrong."

Re: Indiana Jones - Left or Right

It's so much more. We read right to left. So we are comfortable with going with the grain, as opposed to against the grain. It's all a mind thing. We learned all about it in my directing classes. If you stage something right to left, it seems natural... normal... left to right.. adds emphasis, and weird feelings in the audience. You can sneak an actor on from the right, but never from the left.

Hoping the reading right to left thing was a typo

On Indy and Thunder, I don't have a preference. But for Haunted Mansion and Pirates, I prefer the right side.

Interesting thread...I was just at CS yesterday and the CM was saying take either side but right is better. Seemed odd to me as it's the longer route.

If they have an odd number of trains on screamin' you don't have to walk up and over the track at the end if you take the right side.
