  • News Toy Story Midway Mania experimenting with activities to do in line.

It aint Next-Gen but its close. I went in line for Toy Story today when I noticed that the Cast Members at the entrance were giving out Etch-a-Sketch toys to guests that want to play with one in line. Yep, you heard right, Etch-a-sketch. I got one and played with it in line. It made the wait more bearable. Of course, the toys were handed back to a Cast member collecting them as you reach the loading area. When I got to the loading area, the CMs out front were not handing out activity pages instead of the Etches.

Not sure how long they were doing this but we'll see how long it lasts.

I am happy to hear this. TSMM has one of the most boring queues in the resort.
Merrily on our way to nowhere at all.

Sounds good, until people steal those cheap toys.

LOVE IT... might make me actually be willing to bear the line... BTW, in off season (not holidays or marathon weekends) what kind of lines can I expect on TSMM, RSR, Space, etc during the day (10am-4pm) time frame?
          Trips coming up:

          May 22-26th
          July 13th-18th
          November 19th-25th

Midway Mania and Space are usually about 35-40 minutes Stand By when I've gone on the offeseason. Radiator Springs will still be over an hour but I don't think more than 90 minutes. The etch a sketches seem like a great idea and I do agree with what everyone else has said about that queue being absolutely boring.

will the RSR fast pass still run out in the first hour the park is open or closer to noon. I am imagining that this time of year MOST kids are in school so apart from us adults that an go whenever we can afford to and get time off, is anyone else even there?

I couldn't tell you about what specific crowds will be present that day, but I imagine that the FastPasses will be around for much longer than they usually are on a busier day.

We got to DCA right before 10 a.m. opening this past Wednesday and the Fast Pass line for Radiator Springs Racers were already around Carthay Circle. By the time we finished the ride around noon, the Fast Passes were completely gone.

Don't people use their smart phones in line? That's what I do to make it more bearable. There's even an Etch a Sketch app

When I was there in late December they were doing this. It was a disaster. There was papers everywhere, all over the queue. In addition to the paper, they were handing out pencils. Children were drawing all over the walls with the pencils. It made the queue look terrible.
This is not the solution they are looking for.

I've been to the resort at all times of the year and different situations, and it's been my experience that it's very rare that it's NOT substantially busy, although it can happen.
For instance: In the morning of the day of the Disneyland Half Marathon, the park is virtually deserted, until people start filing in later.
For the most part, the popular rides almost always will have a significant line. As far as RSR goes: A good alternative is to go "single rider"...it's a lot like having a fastpass.

I never thought I would say this but I think TSMM could really benefit from an actual interactive queue similar to the ones in TLM, HM, and Pooh in Magic Kingdom. It would make sense seeing that the ride itself is a game anyway.

Though to me the interactive queues tend to be hit-or-miss. (So far the HM in MK is the only one I considered a miss.)

The carnival barker Mr. Potatohead seems wasted. He's placed too early in the queue. I know he's supposed to be at the entrance luring people in, but where he is he can't really interact with anyone unless the line is long enough or someone holds up the line to talk to him.
