We've ridden a few times now (and sometimes in separate cars through the single rider queue) and always "won" the race. Is the ride designed so that it always appears that your car wins from inside the vehicles or are we just extremely good at racing preprogrammed, automatically-controlled slot cars?

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
No. I've been in a car that clearly came in second. I got a comment that said something like "everyone's a winner," but it was clearly a consolation comment.http://micechat.com/forums/disneylan...oto-heavy.html

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
I've won most of the time but I have gotten second place for time to time. If you do place second, Doc tells you a line like "great race, better luck next time" or something like that, and the ride photo is just a generic RSR logo as opposed to the champion's logo."Hello folks, welcome aboard the Disneyland Railroad..."
"The Gods have been angered by all the celebratin'..."

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
In my experience, the car on the right side of the track is the winner. I have ridden both sides of the track and the only time I lost was when I was in the car on the left side when I went through the tire shop. All the other times I won and was on the right side and went through the paint shop.

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
I've ridden both sides of the track multiple times. I have yet to win a race. I'm cursed, or something.
Given that the track is straight at the finish line, there's no way to make it look like both won from inside the vehicle. There will clearly be one in front, and one behind.

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
I haven't kept track, but I know that I've lost a lot more then I've won. If I had to guess I'd say my record is something like 2 - 10. Luck of the draw I guess, just like how I seem to get the same scenes over and over again on Star Tours.Disneyland Cast Member

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
Okay no lie, I was at the parks yesterday and because I got there early, I was able to do RSR a whopping five times (thank you single rider and FastPass!)
4/5 times, the car was green.
4/5 times I went through Ramone's shop.
5/5 times I won.
Much like Star Tours, this ride is so random that sometimes it isn't.

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
This is why the displays at Casinos of the results of the last few games (roulette particularly) are so hilarious. Previous outcomes have no bearing on the current game. It could seriously come up heads 99 times in a row... but the current toss of a coin does not depend on anything that has already happened. Same with RSR. It makes no difference what happened before, only the current ride, and each option has the same chance of happening. 50/50. Left or right to win. Over a long enough time span/large enough sample size, the odds converge to 50/50. Over short time scales and small sample sizes they may look way off.

Re: Does every car win at Radiator Springs?
On RSR it's a coin toss.
On a real race-track proper tires for today's conditions, stagger and suspension dial-in, engine setup, and the like are going to bring you the win.
A fancy paint job only makes you feel better when you weren't properly prepared and get whooped.
