A couple of weeks ago at a meet up I was at. A CM who was part of it said that everybody's saying good-bye to the subs. Upper Management is taking away the costumes.

Re: The subs are going.
I'm sure they took the costumes back so they can issue new ones when it reopens. Also, so CMs don't have them in their possession if they are not using it for a long period of time.
It makes perfect sense to request the costumes be returned. It doesn't mean the ride is closing down.

Re: The subs are going.
Cast members don't know very much about high level decisions. Usually when an attraction closes, they are told that they are going to be relocated and that's about it.
Since this is a long refurbishment, costumes are returned because people tend to shove their costumes into their closets and they end up losing them. Having the costumes in Disney's possession allows them to clean them and keep the entire inventory ready for when they reopen.
As far as I know, they ordered the necessary parts to repair the attraction, which likely means that it's returning.DisneyTwins

Please stop it. I don't know if I can take 9 months of this. We have CM's saying they're definitely coming back and CM's saying they're definitely going. How about some vetted information from a vetted source?sigpic

Re: The subs are going.
My source says that Disney is leaking misinformation that the subs are going away forever, but actually they're going to be reopened when Disneyland beings celebrating their 60th birthday as a special birthday present to all of the guests. However, after Star Wars 7 is a huge success and becomes the highest grossing film of all time, they are going to change their minds and make it a ride based on the aliens that live underwater from Ep 1. Unfortunately, no one really likes Ep 1 and the park guests will all be bummed about the change, and so Disney will then spend a billion dollars to try and "fix" the subs (thus negating the savings by closing them for a few years) by theming it after the new Pixar film, Boats.
Oh, and my source recently stayed at a Holiday Inn Express so I totally trust them.Disneyland Cast Member
