Re: What Disney movie deserves (but doesn't have) a ride at the parks?

Off topic, but you know what movie I think doesn't deserve a ride? Frozen. I just might get hurt for saying this, but Frozen was awful in my opinion. I gave it a couple chances due to it being such a big hit, and I couldn't even finish it the second time around. They tried WAY too hard on this one.

Anyway, there are plenty of movies that deserve a ride. I personally would like to see an older movie made into a ride. Like Mary Poppins, Bambi, or Robin Hood. I think a Sword in the Stone ride would be adorable.

A Tron thrill ride would be amazing.

Aladdin is my number one "movie that deserves a ride"

I'd also say 101 Dalmations and Lion King would make wonderful dark rides, and since I'm a huge Frozen fan plus I think it offers a unique setting for a ride, I'd love to see what they could come up with it, as well.

So many deserve their own dark ride, but I know many if them may not get one.

-Beauty and the Beast is my number one choice.

-A Fantasia Dark Ride would be fantastic!!

-A Bambi dark ride should go into Critter Country if they ever found room for expansion.

-Sword in the Stone, Frozen, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Hunchback of Notre Dame all deserve amazing animatronic populated dark rides.

I always thought The Sword in the Stone would be a really fun dark ride because the movie has so many different aspects to it. Start off in the woods when Wart meets Merlin, transform to the castle with the magic dishes, go through Merlin's magic of fish and squirrels, have a Madam Mim segment, and then end with Wart becoming King Arthur. It wouldn't be any longer than the Monsters Inc ride is.

For more recent movies I still say that Tron would make a pretty cool Tomorrowland attraction if done properly. Same goes for Wall-E.

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite animated flick, so I would love to see an attraction. As a little kid, I always wanted to see a Bambi attraction. Also, it may seem too much like POTC, but Treasure Island would make a great attraction.

and welcome to the boards. You didn't mislabel this. It is fun.

The Avengers (really? this movie brings in so much cash for Disney and all they do are a couple of meet and greets?) This could make a great dark ride.

Pete's Dragon A Peter Pan style ride flying on Elliott's back.

The Black Hole With the special effects that they have today, this could make for an amazing attraction. I would love to see a life-size Maximilian animatronic.

Re: What Disney movie deserves (but doesn't have) a ride at the parks?

I tend to get squeamish when I hear movie-based attractions.
But for Fantasyland/Toon Town, I'm fine with it. Or maybe even if one of the classics (like Jungle Book) were placed in an appropriate land (Adventure in JB's case).
I think there are so many that could work very well as dark rides. And some of those could even be taken to the next level when it comes to attraction dynamics.
The one movie that often comes to my mind when this question is proposed is the The Aristocats. I don't know why. I always really liked this movie and the music is really nice.
It's one of those obscure movies though that doesn't get mentioned a lot, so I'm not sure what kind of attendance it would get or how popular it would be at this point.
The ones that would get more traffic IMO would be:
Jungle Book (as a boat ride would be cool as someone mentioned)
Lady and the Tramp (as a dark ride)
And I love the Fantasia and Steamboat Willie ideas mentioned above.
While I'm not a fan of Frozen like so many others seem to be (the best animated feature of all time?), it could make a pretty good attraction, effects-wise.

I agree! I kept telling my friends that instead of Pandora, they put in a Lion King Land, and they can move the show there too!

Also, Tron, for a while at DCA, had the elecTRONic Party, until it was replace with Mad T Party.

Guys, Tron is getting a ride at Shanghai. Tomorrowland. 2017. Meet you there.

                          It's a bike race thing, I believe.

I don't have any suggestions for rides (I guess I'm just not imaginative enough), but I am amazed at how many people love/request dark rides! I love the dark rides but it almost feels like most people are a little "meh" about them these days.
I guess I would love a new ride in Toon Town. I don't even venture in there anymore because the only thing worthwhile, IMO, is seeing Mickey or Minnie. A new GOOD ride based on just about anything would be welcomed with me!

WHOA!!! Just have to say I disagree with people not being excited about dark rides these days! Dark rides, in my opinion are the heart of DL's Fantasyland, With Pan, Toad, Alice, Pinocchio and Snow White! And Small World is Classic for 50 YEARS, still going strong! Where would DL be without the Haunted Mansion and Pirates??!?!?!?! Indiana Jones is GREAT dark ride from the 90's. Splash Mt would be NOTHING without its dark ride sections. A large reason DCA 1.0 failed miserably is because of the lack of classic dark rides, and its still short in that category. The dark ride sections of Radiator Springs Racers are a large reason why it is so successful!

Very well put, Aladdin! What most people call dark rides, I refer to as Audio-Animatronic rides, since to me that includes the more advanced like POTC and HM. But it's still the same basic thing. Bring me through an amazing environment where I can enjoy the scenery and story.
I really think DL could use more of the big AA rides, the way EPCOT had a bunch in its golden years.
