  • [Question] Question about Fantasmic.

How do the characters get over to Pirate Island without being seen? I've looked on google maps and there is only the one landing and no land bridges from anywhere else in the park. Do they have a tunnel? I'm really curious to know.

    Please help.

They cross over by using a raft, which they board at the lower level of the Hungry Bear.

They use the same rafts that they use to transport guests over to the island. As they close the island, cast and crew make their way over....but it is all over water. There is no land access to the island!

Around the sides, there are landing platforms that allow the cast to enter the Pirate Ship and Mark Twain from the island...over behind Big Thunder Railroad area is the dock where they load the cast and crew onto the barges.

If you watch well before the show, you can see quite a bit of activity as they get prepared and in place. We used to watch from around the sides to see as much of the backstage stuff as we could!

I always wondered if the Mark Twain characters and princesses cross over on the raft already in costume or are they put in costume once on the island?

I think they put on the costumes once they get over, I'd imagine that it's not very helpful for them to make their way over there while carrying the weight of the costume and potentially being spotted by guests.
