  • Space Mountain or Edison Square/Liberty Street?

These to lands were proposed for 1958 and '59 but were later scrapped and Space Mountain took most of it's place. What would you have rather had, Liberty Street which included shops, dining and the Hall of Presidents and also the proposed Edison Square that promised shops, dining and the storied history of electricity, similar to Carousel of Progress, or would you have gone with Space Mountain?

if edison square was made, then no Carasell of Progress, and no fun educational attraction about technology in WDW... so i go for Space mountain...

I would have chosen Liberty Street and Edison Square, it would have added alot more nostalgia, uniqueness and history to the park.

Space Mountain definitely. Although Liberty Street and Edison Square would have been nice I don't think I would have visited it very much and I love Space Mountain...

Re: Space Mountain or Edison Square/Liberty Street?

Let's face it, nobody is going to line up for CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS... IT'S BACK like the new Space Mountain promotion.

When the 50th crowds get too big they need that alley behind Main Street and Space Mountain to evacuate the park... so it's better it has stayed a backstage alley.

I know some people really want Yesterland and The Disneyland That Never Was to open as the third gate... So write City Hall and maybe it'll happen. It will be where attractions go to retire when nobody rides them anymore like "The Island of Broken Toys" in that Christmas special. There's one attraction. I know "Adventures Thru Inner Space" and the People Mover are top wishes, so maybe combine them and you ride a People Mover through Inner Space and don't need to buy another Omnimover system.

If they really want to build some liberty street or square thingy, they should do it in Florida where they have more room!

                    Oh. Wait...

                    Never mind

I hate when Photographers stand ontop of the WDW liberty square buildings....it ruins the effect...lol

Re: Space Mountain or Edison Square/Liberty Street?

Tomorrowland needed it's anchor, and that's Space Mountain. I do think there's room for more history in Disneyland and Liberty and Edison both fit nicely. There might still be room with some back stage shuffle. Thematically, I drool over the notion of an Edison Square off the Hub positioned between main street and tomorrowland.

Turn of the century main street to the left gives way to turn of the century adventure which moves on to the frontier which started it all.

Turn of the century main street to the right gives way to edison square and turn of the century invention, which moves on to the future and where it's all going.

drool. big picture stuff. brilliant. too bad they didn't do it.

Yeah you guys are right, Tomorrowland wouldn't be nothing today if it didn't have Space Mountain, I fold my previous answer.
