  • Disneyland today was a pain in the ash...and kind of empty.

Just posting a mini trip report for this morning, 2/6/06. Heavy smoke was billowing from the Anaheim Hills fire (it was actually on the other side of the 241 so I don't know if that qualifies as Anaheim Hills) and quite a bit of smoke and ash were in the parks today. Really bad day if you have asthma. Standing in line for Monsters inc the ash began to drift down around 10:15 or so this morning. Walking through DCA, the light was eerily filtered through the smoke. Keeping in mind that we've had no rain since New Year's and the fact that the sky was grey with smoke, the Momma's and Poppa's sound track was rather ironic:

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray
    I've been for a walk on a winter's day
I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A.
California dreamin' on such a winter's day

Did I mention it was about 85 degrees today? Brown leaves, gray sky...gotta love California.

    Other stuff...

With the smoke and all, Main Street looked kind of creepy. That and the fact that the Magic Shop was closed as was the Music Store, and fruit stand. Any thoughts on why this was the case? I was thinking this is due to the lack of CM's.

I left just before noon and the ash was beginning to come down pretty good...not enough to make it look like Disney snow, but just enough for it to collect on the deck of the Mark Twain. As I left on the 57, you could look back and see how the DLR is directly in the path of this smoke. Could be a bummer for people staying til 8:00 tonight.

no wonder why when I looked outside today, everything looked yellow. All my rooms in the house have a yucky yellow color to it. And outside is this huge cloud of smoke

Maybe this will encourage them to spray off the dirty slopes of Space Mountain.

Yeah try having to go to school and work in that rather than just play! It sucks! Esp when you have bronchitis.
