Hmmm, I would be interested to know if this was true and when it happened- That thing has been there forever and I am definitely curious as to why it would be removed.Check out the News Forum for the latest news with a Micechat twist!

I wonder if it suffered the same fate as Captain Hook's tuna salad-serving pirate ship and Switzer falls .... death by termites.
Sometimes I wonder if Orkin or Dale Dribble needs to throw a big 'ole tent over the whole park and gas out those little buggers before something terrible happens. Hey, maybe they could do that May 4th ........"She's taking everything. She's taking the house, she's taking the kid, she's taking the dog. IT'S NOT EVEN HER DOG. IT'S MY DOG! SHE'S TAKING . . . MY DOG!"

As far as I understand, the ticket booths like the mushroom at alice were just wood frames with chicken wire and stucco, and over the years they have had to add some concrete patch work. I could be wrong, but upon close inspection of them when I went last they seemed to be nothing more than stucco. Historically amusement parks like coney island really only made "temporary" or more fanciful shaped buildings out of stucco and wire on a frame so it would make sense.
They still do it sometimes now, but use "gunnite" instead which is stronger than stucco.

i noticed an article in saturday's newspaper that a young boy was hurt on storybook canal boats wednesday, breaking a finger and losing the tip of his thumb when getting his hand caught between the boat and the dock at the end of the ride. The ride was shut down for two days for investigation.

Things must happen fast at DL. We were just in the park last weekend and the lighthouse was right where it was supposed to be. We even rode the Storybook Land Boats. Hopefully, it's just out for a touchup and will be put back. Since it is an old ticket booth, its always been a little bit of nostalgia for me."Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

If you look closely on the old ticket booths like the mushroom, you can tell exactly where the windows used to go for the people inside to exchange money/give tickets. Yes the lighthouse was the ticket booth, whether it always was so since the very beginning of the ride I dont know. It could be a later addition after the actual opening of the ride, but if it is it wasnt much later its been there for quite a long time. The lighthouse has been there LONG before pete's dragon. It is kind of an odd thing to have there so I can see why it would make someone think that, I beleive the theming stems from the original name of the attraction: "canal boats of the world" which makes a bit more sense for a lighthouse to be in the theming.
