  • Paradise Pier: which parts work?

There seems to be some discrepancy in the way people think about Paradise Pier, and it affects how people approach certain topics, especially the Removal thread.

That said... let's kill two birds with one stone. What works in Paradise Pier (excluding what the guidemap defines as Golden State) and what doesn't? Keeping in mind, saying something works doesn't mean it has to stay exactly how it is, just that it has enough going for it to work.

It depends on what you call the Screamin' area...if the carnival games aren't included its just fine...it fits a California Pier theme pretty well...but the Route 66 section doesn't fit a "Pier" theme very well...

There have been several splendid suggestions, which vary in degree, that I very much liked.
*First I like the idea of making it feel even more like an old pier on the physical structure of the pier near Screaming, but I not sure how to go about that. Black and white photo booths, orgen players, guy with monkey's who dance, churro carts, mines, acrobats, jugglers, etc. (MORE TWINKLE LIGHTS)
*Second I like the idea of adding an overlay with an omage to the original Classic Characters. EG- Goofy's Maliboomers, Chip and Dales Ferris Wheel, Mickey's Screaming Over California, Minnie Carosel, and Pluto's Fun Dogs. I dunno, seems good and ties more Disney into it.
*I support the removal of most if not all of the rides north of the Maliboomers, and east to the Zepher. The rides were not well conceived and need more well designed Disney imagineered replacements. I still support the expansion of GRR, adding some Mining Ride and hopefully putting Bear Country Jamboree in somwhere. Otherwise there is space available for plenty of ideas.
*Lastly there was a suggestion to add a small water park, mayb even a little wave pool on one side of the Pier, most likely the south west end. I like the idea of more emphasis on the beach compount of California.
Disclaimer: These are not all my ideas. Suggestions. DCA does need work, we know this. Thats not being debated.

Well, using the guidemap as a reference, the Screamin' area contains Screamin' itself, plus Boomer, Sun Wheel, Triton, and everything else that falls within the physical boundaries of Screamin'.

As for the carnival games, prime example of what I mean. Small details that can be fixed, replaced, or otherwise augmented without having to tear out the whole Screamin' area. From your response, I'd say you think that the Screamin' area works for now.
